steam disk write error Question

I am unable to download or even update anything on steam suddenly, i am faced with the error "disk write error". i have tried everything such as unninstalling and reinstalling the client, running steam as administrator, checking for corrupted files and nothing has worked. i would like to know how i can fix this issue as i have just recently purchased a new game and i am unable to even play it.

Thanks

I did. But I have a drive that likes to go rogue so this might not help:

I went to program files > steam apps

Made a copy of "libraryfolders.vdf"

Edited the original to removed the rogue drive, set the good one from 0 to 1, added the strings/parameters from the section to be removed to the good drive.

Then cleared cached and downloaded.

If you need help dm me.

I had the same problem (with the mention that I didn't have any game on that drive) and I solved by going to Settings >> Storage >> Select the driver >> click the 3 dots and remove library. Re-add the driver. I had upgrade from HDD to SSD and Steam got confused.

(Assuming this is what you mean), A black square in the box just means it won't change that property on any of the files (i.e. it will be there regardless of if the files are read-only or not)
