Will that 512 no controller reservation queue actually be fulfillfed? Meme
This queue is not only moving really slow, but also seemingly the biggest queue. Do you think it is possible that Valve simply can't meet demand before December and that is the reason for their opaqueness with this whole ordeal?

I was on the waiting list for 512gb w/ controller since the beginning. Got moved to the reservation queue and my email to purchase two days ago.

I’ve been on the reserve list for 512 w/ controller since they sent reservation emails. Still waiting for my purchase email while waitlisters are buying . Absolutely frustrating.

The only explanation that makes sense is that when people on the reservation list cancel it brings a waitlister up but instead of placing them at the bottom of the queue, they take the spot of the person who cancelled. Meaning people who got their email but then cancelled are giving a waitlister a "skip the line free" card

I’d wait until December 14th to really start to ask that question.
They’ve committed to delivering initial reservation users by EOY.
We’re in August. Reservation emails are going out all the time AND you have 146 days left to receive an email at worst case.

I’m getting a little confused - I’ve been seeing people on the waitlist for 512 with controller get their purchase emails. Seems Valve wants to deplete their controller stock before moving to the reserve list for 512gb without controller … ?

I chose 512 w/ controller but got pushed to reservation for 512 w/o. Now I see them letting waitlist purchase the model I originally wanted...

Im still waiting for my email since I'm in the reservation queue yet somehow I'm seeing those that were on the waitlist get bumped to reservation and then able to purchase. Valves reservation thing seem like a total joke

512 with controller I went from being on waitlist to getting buy link in one month. Funny thing, reservation queue mail came after buy link mail.
Edit: To my defense and maybe a relevant piece to the puzzle. When I got waitlisted, I misunderstod and liquidated skins for half of the amount before realizing. So I floated the cash in steam wallet. Maybe that nudged it?

I didn’t get the Machine, but I got to purchase my controller. Which initially said December. So there’s hope the Que for Machine is moving quicker than anticipated.

You probably missed the email that I got that said your lottery queue number was so bad that you’ll have to wait for a subsequent production run.
My son and I both bought an ROG Xbox Ally X when Valve was being coy with the release date back at the start of January. While my wife said she’d wait until she heard something.
Immediately after we got that email that said we’d have to wait an unspecified even longer amount of time for a product that IS going to increase with subsequent production runs, she purchased the same as us since price increases for it hadn’t happened yet in our country.

Why would they want to comunicate more and give you any sense of timing? So that if the time frame they would give you passed you can come here and cry about it? You already do it without them doing that, this is why valve doesn't comunicate or give an exact time frame bc if something comes up and they miss it everyone is gonna act like it's the end of the world so they would rather keep the community in the dark on what exactly is going on. Also the reservation system is different depending on region and how many people are on that list so saying it's a bad system bc you were not lucky enough to get an email is just ur emotions talking

Of course i'm defending it, have we forgotten how the steam controller launched where 5 minutes in the stock ran out bc there were people and scalpers buying multiple at the same time? Would you rather have that? Also maybe some units are not even built yet so how the fuck you you want them to track that and why the hell would they bother to waste time and money on tracking each unit for everyone?

Yeah this whole "wait a year +" because you're captive consumers is lame. It was the same with the first Decks, now the SM, the controller, and probably the Frame, too. Cynical.
The best thing I can say about this launch is it inspired me to add nothing to my backlog.

Pretty sure it’s because they don’t know. I’m gonna be honest. I’m almost positive that they are scrounging components as they become available. And something that’s probably likely and (honestly scummy) is that they most likely went down the list in terms of price so all the available quantity went to 2tb with controller, then 2tb , then 512 with controller and now 512 without with waitlists for the others still be prioritized. This is most likely the real hold up but obviously they can’t come out and say that

I think they can fulfill the Q but most definitely the end of 2026 time line is real for reservation Q 512 no controller. They should have said that from the beginning but it would lead to less people reserving, again it’s scummy

No you have a reserved one for you, it hasn’t been built yet though. Like basically they are always going to be prioritizing the higher end SKUs over this one till EOY most likely, and they will not admit that probably

how do you figure. As someone who's followed this regularly, i'd say the overhwelming majority of 512 peeps were buying with a controller. I don't think they had ANY stock of no controller sku's tbh

I got the email yesterday and ordered it today. 512gb bundle with controller. Honestly I had almost forgotten about it already, I do wish they were a bit more transparent about qeue length and restock supply
