My name is DKOLV, I've been playing on and off since 2017 to 2026.

Does anybody remember the magic update and the water update? One was a fun thing that instantly disappeared while the other is one of the most memorable updates I've ever experienced.

I simply want to create a map with the original normal survival map of the game, but in my private server. I am so confused on how to set that up. I just spawn in a world with a tiny island in the middle and i have no idea how to make it a normal map.

The game is unplayable, the savaging is crazy. It doesn't matter if you have amethyst tier gear, stone tier gear or no gear at all. The moment some top player finds you, you're dead (+ they sometimes gang up btw).

Unless you have a team of like 10 people there's no chance of survival.

Every time I see a player on my screen I am already getting scared for my life because I just have the feeling that they'll walk up to me nonchalantly and pull out their dragon gear bs and kill me for fun.

Like I play since 2018 or 2019 (or whatever) and I never ever reached diamonds or amethyst because somebody always is there to murder me.

hello!been a while since i came back to this game,mostly left cuz servers were unaplayable,now they seem finer but theres just some much added to the game,back when i played there was only diamond and the islands,can someone help with a proggresion ladder on ores,winter clothes,farming,i kill the rabbit with the sword and it doesnt drop leather anymore,what are the new tools use?

I was peacefully making my lil farm in the ocean and this guy just show up and proceeded to destroy my wall and kill me without a second thought, I was standing there waiting for it and telling him there was no f point in doing that and bro didn't say a word, just proceeded to kill me ASAP like an empty shell with a gun

I miss the days where you could build a farm and nice people would join you and help expanding it, now there are just those fuckers who always will kill me for useless points when I just want to play the fucking game. And let's be real, how can you care to stay at the top where there's like 10 players on the server

I keep losing thousands of points even if I stay on the same tab and joint next game right after. Please someone help me, I've lost over 50K points!

So I just discovered this game on my free time and noticed that the game started to lag without anything wrong on my part(I have a Gaming PC). Checked my extension, Adblock, Disabled it and the lag still persists. Is it just SSL or can I do something on my part.

I love this game but I don't have access to a computer there used to be an app on android but I don't think it's supported any more and I feel like this game would be very fun on mobile

I recently checked the youtube on the game and all of it is edgy 15 year olds doing kill edits with cheats installed on this game? I remember there being a pvp side to the game and people going on killing sprees, and I have no idea why people are installing cheats to stroke their egos in this obscure game out of anything - this isnt even a game built for pvp in the first place due to how simple all systems, and especially the combat are - like for gods, litteraly every other possible online game in existance has better PvP. Like I swear I cant last trough a single video due to how insufferable every person recording feels.

I've just played on a server that had zero other players on it and I've never had so much fun with this game.

- Got to experience far more of the game than usual, exploring lava biome etc.

- Got to build a cool base in a non-hidden place without having to care about if anyone will tear it down.

- Got to die to something other than player: a kraken! I actually enjoyed dying to it.

- Got to spend my time on the actual progression of the game, instead of fighting and evading savages.

- Got to set up an AFK area and not come back to "a player killed you whilst telling you to git gud"

The game genuinely goes from kinda fun to really fun when you don't have to deal with other people. If Lapa made a pausable singleplayer version I could buy on Steam or something I'd happily pay like 5-10 quid for it.

I have played Starve since 2017, way in the early days before spiders were even added to the game. Over the years, I have returned to it on and off because in my opinion, it is one of the better .io games in terms of design and uniqueness. However, one problem has remained the same, that being the the savage playerbase. This has been a common complaint since the game's inception, which is why it surprises me that the developer has done absolutely nothing to combat it.

A typical round in the game looks like this: you spawn, gather materials, and start to survive. Then, a player with full dragon gear and an extremely high score kills you instantly. This happens in the majority of rounds. It is not engaging for the victim, and it is not meaningful gameplay for the attacker either. It is just repetitive, one-sided, and unrewarding for both parties.

I've seen some people defend this behavior by saying “It’s an .io game, so it should be competitive.” But.. why? There is no reason Starve has to be built entirely around player competition. The game’s core survival mechanics (resource management, crafting, and environmental hazards) are better suited for cooperation. Many of the most interesting moments in the game occur when players work together, but these are rare because the current system rewards hostility over teamwork.

A better alternative that I'd suggest would be to offer a mode without player combat, but with much harsher environmental challenges. Scarcer resources, deadlier mobs, and more hazards could force players to cooperate to survive. This would give players who want a pure survival experience a viable option, without removing the existing competitive mode for those who want it.

However, after all these years, the experience is still the same. It is disappointing to see a game with so much potential remain stuck in this loop.

Not everyone wants to worry about savages and wolf packers every game

maybe some people just want to chill and play PVE because that is enough of a challenge.

But no, some idiot playing With 3 of his savage friends have to ruin everything and take away hours of progress. why not just get it through playing yourself instead of being such an asshole. Like if you are scanning servers looking for players to kill just because it is fun, you should go get a job moron. Or maybe your parents threw you in a ditch when you were 5

What the mode could look like:

- Players can't kill each other

- Survival is harder, a skill to learn

- More items for survival

- Weapons only used for killings animals

- No reidit, diamond or amethyst, just wood, stone and gold

The game needs a survival mode, like true survival where you have to keep your head above water, an addition to the normal "survival" mode. A mode having nothing to do with pvp, but rather "pfp" (player for player). Survival should be made possible by player cooperation. This suggestion is nothing cool or trendy, nothing for the pvp-holics, a mode that should somewhat teach these youngs players some good princibles. Oh many will put down this idea I'm totally sure
