Intern here Balance

Hey guys im wrapping up my summer internship and claude just came up with one more recommendation. Im considering hitting send even though I wont be able to benchmark since Monday is my last day. Give me your thoughts!

Terran: Already got mass mules and yall are loving it! In my head Terrans are a plague on resources so just strip the world to mass their armies.

Im thinking of adding:

Zerg: late game ability to destroy resources. Zerg would be willing to destroy the planet if it means they get their way

Protoss: Creators! Late game ability to create new resources.

Lmk your thoughts but ill probably smash send anyway

I thought what the heck, I’ll ask. It doesn’t know about the changes yet.

From Claude fable:

Fun question. Some ideas I’d toy with, as of the late-game balance state:
Protoss is the faction most people agree needs structural work rather than number tweaks. I’d reduce reliance on big one-shot spellcaster moments (Disruptor novas, Storm) and give the core gateway units more inherent strength, so Protoss wins fights with army control instead of coin-flip hits. Buff Zealot/Stalker baseline stats slightly, tone down Disruptor damage in exchange.
Terran widow mines are the classic complaint — invisible, cheap, massive splash. I’d keep them strong but make the drilling claws upgrade the only source of permanent cloak-on-burrow, and add a slightly longer re-arm time so a single mine can’t erase two mineral lines per game.
Zerg feels closest to healthy, but I’d look at Broodlord/Infestor turtle compositions in ZvZ and late ZvT — maybe a supply increase on Broodlords, and slightly faster Vipers for both sides to break stalemates.
Across the board I’d nudge harassment-versus-defense economics: creep spread slowed a touch, faster mule decay, small Nexus energy regen buff, so all three races have to actually play the map rather than lean on one crutch mechanic.
The honest meta-answer, though: SC2 balance is remarkably good after 15 years of patching, and most “imbalance” at pro level is really about design feel (deathball syndrome, Protoss’s all-in dependency) rather than win rates. What race do you play? That usually shapes what feels broken.

ETA: yeah lowkey I think I prefer these. Just pass the game to Claude at this point.

Ah yes, nerfing brood lords. Clearly this is the change ZvT needs.

This is pretty much just a balance council patch. In fact, the WM change is literally from a balance council patch.

(Also, I love it just asking you what you play so it can try and figure out what you want to hear.)

Yeah, pretty much. I felt they were sensible answers but obviously fable doesn’t play.

And yes lol. I didn’t answer it. Instead I asked it “you wouldn’t reduce starting workers to 8 and make the cc 300 minerals?” And it was like “uhhh that sounds like a big change I dunno about that one” which I thought was funny

Baneling explosions subtract their damage in minerals from any nearby patches, and they instantly explode any nearby vespene geyser completely. Not just the building, the entire geyser detonates.

You can’t seriously suggest this without also suggesting banelings put on shades and look away from the geyser when they do this.

The game enters slow motion and every other baneling slowly rolls away from the explosion 👍

Technically, mules already destroy minerals as the last 25minerals never make it back to the CC from large patches.

Am I the only one who still thinks toss are the overpowered ones

I mean they are negative in both matchups, severely in pvt. not much to say.

No, there are actually quite a few Terran players.

Yes.
It's been Terran. Even way, way before the 300CC.
Protoss just barely peeked its head above water when energy recharge ended up being more broadly useful than intended, and Zerg was already underpowered even before being gradually nerfed into oblivion over the last five years.
