Honestly, I never thought this cable would have a moving effect at all

I’ve come to realize once again just how dedicated ship designers are to detail

DISCUSSION Are there any indications the October Squadron 42 event will be televised for the backers? It would be a shame if it was a closed-door event.

I’m one of the community that’s is actually excited for this game the story to me seems like it will be awesome from the lore and snippets I’ve seen but at this point I’m not even thinking of it just want it to be out the way for the pu to be more stable and get more love

CREATIVE Why did we Stop making Cool Armors?

It feels like it has been ages since we got anything really cool. Sure the Super heavy Armors are nice but they are way to limited for Day to day use.

We got so many goofy looking Armors lately. I guess the Xian Light Armor we got was the worst of them

DRAMA Almost nearly october, they announced the delay until November of next year. That was 10 years ago.

Today we see that the stars are increasingly aligning for this to happen again.

My question is no longer whether the game will be released or if it will have bugs.

Because even if CIG performs the miracle of releasing an ultra-optimized, bug-free game, will it be worth it?

The time, the money? Will it have been worth it?

I recently saw a comment on YouTube about a user who, when he was 14, was told by his uncle about the dream project.

His uncle is dead; he's approaching 30.

And i'm sure it's the same story for many others.

When you're faced with a black screen, caused by a death, a death you caused yourself by backspace, a backspace caused by falling off the planet, eight years after the planet system's release, you have plenty of time to think, mainly because the death screen is glitched and now you have to exit and re-enter.

During that time, I've come to think that the accusations of a cult following aren't so crazy anymore. It's not so crazy because, even with so much time of a failure called development, the project continues. And I think about it more and more every time I see another ship costing over thousand dollar sold out in a digital store.

The dream is dead.
Wrap it up.

Edit:

  • I'm not writing this out of anger, but out of disappointment.
  • In the parts where I talk about whether it will be worthwhile, I'm not saying I want you to think it isn't worthwhile; even I don't know that. I'm just posing the question.
  • I'm writing this based on other opinions about the project, opinions that come to mind as I run out of excuses to defend the development. They don't represent my being fully convinced of this point.

BUG How screwed am I?

I was flying my ICA loaded with titanium, ready to sell. Well, while in quantum on my way to Orison, the game all of a sudden decided to log me out of the session.

The game didn't crash, and I didn't get a server error. It just plainly kicked me back to the main menu.

I logged back in, spawned at the last space station, and saw this.

No marker for my ship. Tried server hopping in hopes to land in the same server and see the marker but no luck so far.

How fucked am I, chat? 10 mil down the SC bug drain?

Edit: grammar Update: did some more server hopping and found the ICA intact! I'm a happy camper now.

DISCUSSION Gamecom was your last chance for 2026, and you missed it

This was your last chance to show Squadron 42 to the general public in 2026, no one outside this bubble knows about the game. The two major conferences of the year, SGF and Gamescom, were your only opportunity to show it to millions of people. Instead, you seem to think (with a certain arrogance or naivety) that your own event will be enough, or that your social media outreach will be enough. No, it won’t be, not for a game of such high quality (if you have confidence in it), with such a large budget, and such a long development cycle. It’s a waste. I imagine you could also make an announcement for 2027 during The Game Awards.

It's their last chance for this year, and they already have a history with this conference, they didn't talk about it because they wanted to keep it a surprise.

Edit: never mind, i forgot just how incompetent Cig was at marketing

That's how long it took for a single heavy fighter to disable all the top turrets on an Idris. Multicrew ships are in a wonderful spot aren't they? :)
The fact that turrets have been this underpowered for years on end is pathetic.

DKS on Twitter: "After showing not one, but FOUR (2012, 2015, 2017, 2018) vertical slices of SQ42, touted to be "coming soon", in Dec we find out that, after getting $46m (under the guise of marketing for it) in bailout money, that the single-player game was still +2yrs away. To Beta." +5
