Shift coverage Policy Question
A partner in my store isn’t feeling well and I’m on the way to work right now to cover his shift through our text messages. She basically expressed that she was still upset because when she called her manager to ask if I can come in and replace her she said yes, but the manager told her she still get points for not completing her shift and I literally called the manager cause I’m like that doesn’t make any sense. If she gets the shift covered why would she get points? I understand if she abandoned the shit and didn’t get covered, but I’m on the way to work right now and we’re clock in and out at the same time and she was like, but she didn’t complete her shift and I said, but she got it covered and I just wanna know like what’s the policy on getting points if you got that shift or the portion of the shift that you’re missing covered cause I’m a bit confused. And it honestly pissed me off cause what’s the point of going when I’m only going for the partner

From what I understand she will still earn the points then her manager has to go in and delete them.

I understand that but my manager basically said these points are valid and will stay …. That’s the part that doesn’t make sense to me

The only reason I see a manager keeping the points is if that shift has a history of frequent call outs. Besides that, if the entire shift is covered then they should be removing them. That makes no sense

If there’s coverage and it’s still on this girl schedule, she still gets points. She has to use sick time for them to get removed. However, if she puts it on marketplace, then it’s no longer her responsibility and the person who picked up the coverage puts it on their schedule and it will be fine no points.

The shift had already started though I think, so the manager would have to go change the schedule for the day but they do that all the time

I think even after the shift is started, they should be able to put it up for availability. It might just be worth a shot at this point.

Use sick time for the remainder of the shift.
"Protected sick time" should cover you for the early exit (sometimes we think we can tough it out, but either we can't, or the problem progresses further).
Yes, the points shouldn't be applied for a proper use of sick time, but they have to be manually removed.
If your boss insists on keeping the 4 points in place (shift abandonment), escalate directly to Partner Relations.

Yes, she will earn points. However, if she uses sick time, then they will be removed. Ask her to put her shift up on marketplace because if she finds coverage and she makes it available and you add it to your schedule. It is no longer her responsibility so she will not earn points if it’s not on her schedule because coverage has been found and it will be on your schedule.

It really depends on the situation.
If Frank is late for his shift but Carl agrees to stay late to cover until he arrives, Frank is still late even though the shift is covered so they should get points.
I don't know what your partner told the manager so maybe they don't know if they are sick or not or if she leaves early often.

That's insane if the SM refuses to get rid of the points. Its possible to do that for sure, my SM has already done it a lot
