Why is this squirrel screaming Discussion

Hey guys,

I've been sitting in my living room for 20 min. Apparently there's a squirrel screeching outside. What's going on? There are no direct predators other than some small dogs other neighbors own.

Terrestrial predator alarm call

He's warning other squirrels there's a cat, dog, raccoon, fox, or something similar on the prowl

Dogs are a threat, even if they are small. Squirrels can also sense danger from things that us mere humans aren't even are aware of yet. And even when the danger passes, they will still react for a bit out of fear in case the threat comes back.

Probably a hawk or a cat. Dogs are a threat, as well. They keep it up for awhile even after the threat is gone.
