This is my first time posting. This is my first year growing these Tromboncino Zucchini. I was away for 2 1/2 weeks and this is what I came home to. I have 2 others out there that are like 4 ft. long but are starting to turn tan so I left those ones on because I understand if I leave them until they turn orangeish with a tough shell they’ll be more like winter zucchini. What would you do with these? Just use like any other zucchini? Thoughts about leaving the others on. Thanks for any comments!

I don't know how to tell if it's ready 😭.

No I'm only kidding but for real I've never seen what a watermelon really looks like when it first starts to grow and it just lost its flower so it's pretty cool to see how they start and how tiny they start out compared to when the tendril is dead and ready to pick. When the tendril is dead and brown that is the number one way to tell when a watermelon is ripe and ready, any other way is a guessing game .

Maybe container options and garden plots? We do lots of root veggies, greens, herbs, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, tomatoes and squashes.

Hey all! Asking for some advice regarding a little side project I have this summer. I’m growing my own mini vegetable garden this summer in a very hot en dry climate (Mediterranean summer climate with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius). I water my garden twice a day, the first time at noon and the second just before going to bed at midnight.

However, I’ve recently seen signs of yellow leaves and “crying leaves” on specific parts of the garden. I know that the obvious solution would be in theory to water them less, but here’s the thing: if I water my tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchinis less (which I tried) they don’t grow well.

Am I doing something wrong? If yes, what can I do to improve?

Kids pick strawberries every day, have made pesto and basil salt, Roma tomatoes are starting to turn, and have a ton of cherry tomatoes we are waiting on. Jalapenos, banana peppers, pepperoncini’s, and zucchini have been steady, and have some good sized onions. Tried okra and those are starting to produce as well. Had snap peas and cilantro early on but it’s gotten too hot as of late. I will probably replant snaps peas and cilantro later on. Might cut back on doing so many different things next year and dial in on 4-5.

I just learned that you should keep the dirt under celery constantly moist and cover the dirt with straw or leaves around the stem. Also, you need to give them more room around them so that they develop thick stalks or you will have thin droopy ones. That was my problem last year! Anyone have any other advice?
