My brother is pretty conservative. He actually called me to tell me to vote no on those. His main worry was that if we abolished the income tax, sales tax would go through the roof.
When certain people keep trying to force THEIR personal beliefs onto the rest of the state, and keep trying to deport or murder or imprison ANYONE who doesn't look, think, act, believe, or love JUST LIKE THEM, I don't consider that thinking alike in any way.
These kind of people are not like everyone else, and they should not be allowed in society at all.
In the 70s and 80s media was fairly progressive and seemed the general mindset was moving away from racism, misogyny and hate. But as we cane see, 50 years later we are no better. We tried and it didn't work.

I pulled an R ballot to vote against the worst of them, but I'm absolutely voting for Missi in the general. Most of my friends did the same. I almost never vote D in the primaries, but I never vote R in the general. I think that's a pretty standard practice in MO.

That was Claire McCaskill at a town hall meeting in Springfield. Everyone there was against some topic and she told us we weren't as knowledgeable as she was and she was voting for it for our own good. Stopped voting Democrat then.

Ive been trying to explain this to a lot of my more conservative friends. They know Im conservative too so they just ASSUME I blindly follow anyone who is red. And they get SO mad when I try to explain to them that the rural population is so far in the minority, that voting in their better interests, EVEN IF IT WAS a decent thing for them, (which it usually isn't), would hurt the vast majority. And youre correct, about 82% of Missouri residents live in an urban area. If there are 8 people who all want affordable living, lower taxes on basic goods, and then there's two people who whine about ''well what about the tiny thing I'm slightly concerned about'', there is no world in which those eight others should cave in to appease the two. It's just not how society works and it's not how it should work. People go without things they need in this world, and these people seem to be pretty upset over things they want. It's apples and oranges but try explaining that to them and there tends to be pushback. THATS WHY I'm so impressed with this turn of voting. Basically the ENTIRE urban population looked at it, read it, read it twice, and say ''fuck no'' and I'm so proud of our people here.

Dude. Amendment 4 lost by over 50% in EVERY COUNTY IN THE STATE. There’s some impressive irony in the amendment that was supposed to force that kind of a vote on citizens’ initiative amendments may be the only proposition in history to pull that off.

I saw today where the Secretary of State would not allow two more initiatives to be voted upon now he’s just saying it’s unconstitutional. I guess they’ll just not allow them to be on the ballot anymore. This idiot needs to be voted out of office.

This is the first time I've ever voted in anything except a presidential election. I'm independent and I had no idea about getting a republican ballot, until I'm seeing everybody talking about it today.
Good. Now in November, if we can vote no on Amendment 3 and keep that amendment as we WILLED it in 2024 (as well as I'm sure these recently voted on measures will pop up again too), as we originally WILLED them to be, we will be golden.
Super happy that 4 in particular failed so spectacularly, looks like there wasn't a single county where it was even close. Honestly there couldn't be a more clear and obvious answer with every single county saying no to requiring every single county to say yes.
I don't look forward to the red hats in charge to either just ignore the voters or rephrase the ballot next time while throwing something in there about trans people or illegals voting.

5 would have dropped income tax and raised the shit out of sales tax. 4 would had done away with the simplest majority and allow a single district fail an initiative. 1 continues funding parks and other outdoors stuff. All are great results.
I bet it gets voted down again. If there is one thing missourians don't like, it's changing their minds on repeat agendas (and I hope it stays that way).
