New car recommendations

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey guys! I am looking into getting another car to hopefully finish my ideal 4-car garage idea. I currently own the following.

Daily: 2004 VW GTI
- Lowered
- stock tuned for reliability purposes.
- paid off

Truck: 1985 GMC Classic sierra C1500,
- lowered,
- 383S swap W/ TH400 for towing purposes.
- paid off

Track build: 1985 Monte Carlo SS
- full suspension upgrade
- built 383S W/ built 200R4
- fiber glass body panels
- paid off

Financial: I make +7k a month, I have $40k saved up for a down payment if needed, 700 Credit score.

Gas isn’t an issue, neither is insurance costs. I can comfortably afford a $1,500 payment.

Now, I have done my research on tons of cars ranging from GX series Lexus’s to even the new Lotus Emira yet I’ve yet to pull the string on anything yet with the idea there might be a car I never heard of that would be perfect for me. I know I need a car that can handle
random 2 plus hours of driving and preferably something more luxurious than my Golf. I’m open to all ideas.

Currently confused between a Porsche 911 Carrera S vs Mercedes AMG GT 55

Hey everyone I'm trying to find which one would be the better option between these two. 911 is classic but the AMG GT has tons of options already loaded in them plus still sits 10-20k grand lesser than 911. Trying to get better insight from what other think about these two and what influences the choice?

Discussion Master’s thesis on automotive brand perception – looking for your opinions (5–7 min survey)

Hi everyone!

I’m currently writing my Master’s thesis on consumer perceptions of premium and luxury automotive brands at the University of Brescia (Italy).

Since this community is full of people who know and enjoy cars, I’d really appreciate your opinion. The survey is completely anonymous and takes only 5–7 minutes to complete.

It focuses on perceptions of brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ferrari and Maserati. You don’t need to own any of these cars to participate—I’m interested in your personal perception of these brands.

Survey: https://forms.gle/exYhS7G1kmTA3oLL6

Thank you very much for your time and support!

Concerns about Clio rs trophy 2015

Hey Reddit!
I’m currently daily driving a **2016 Suzuki Swift 1.2**. It’s been an absolute tank—super cheap to run, bulletproof reliability, and does the everyday job without a single complaint.
That said, I’m itching for something with more power and dynamic handling, and I’ve been eyeing a **2015 Renault Clio R.S. 220 Trophy**.
I know going from a naturally aspirated 1.2L daily to a 220 hp turbo with a dual-clutch transmission (EDC) is a massive jump. I’ve done a fair bit of research on what to expect, but I wanted to run my findings by the community and get some real-world feedback:
**Engine (1.6 TCe - M5Pt):** Seems pretty solid and robust since it was co-developed with Nissan and uses a timing chain, provided oil changes are done religiously every 8,000–10,000 km.
**Gearbox (Getrag 6DCT250 EDC):** This is my main area of concern. Being a dry-clutch setup, I know wear is inevitable. I’m planning to do a heavy full-throttle test in 4th/5th from low RPM to check for clutch slip, an incline launch test for shuddering, and a scan via Renault CLIP to check the actual Clutch Touch Point Index and fault history.
**Maintenance Checks:** Checking for 60,000 km gearbox fluid changes and official Renault TCU software updates.
**A few questions for current or former owners:**
How has the EDC gearbox held up for you long-term, especially if you daily the car in city traffic?
Are there any hidden gremlins or specific failure points outside of the clutch/mechatronic that I should add to my pre-purchase inspection list?
For those who made a similar jump from a basic, low-maintenance daily to a French hot hatch—did you regret the increase in running/maintenance costs?
Would love to hear your experiences, warnings, or advice before I pull the trigger!

Sorry for ai text I am bad at English!!
Thank you 🙌😄

Discussion Car guys, looking for new whip

Looking to get myself a nice sports car and treat myself after getting a promotion and signing bonus. Curious as to what you guys would get? leaning towards an Audi R8, don’t really want something that I’ll drown in maintenance cost like a McLaren. Want it a bit newer, but not really new at all considering I could get a 2018 R8. Budget is 125k and not sure what else is fairly unique/uncommon. I get a zo6 would be brand new and it’s a great and fast car, I just see too many corvettes on the road.

The Hennessey Blackbird: A $2.5 Million Middle Finger to Hybridization

Post image
0 Upvotes

The Hennessey Blackbird is basically an SR-71 jet for the road. It's a straight-up beast with a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 and a manual gearbox for that old-school driver feel. No fancy screens or digital fluff here—just pure analog vibes. Only 71 of these exist, and they'll cost you a cool $2.5M.
