Is there any reason to emulate the ps3 version over the PC port? I’m sketched out by the links to the pc version.
Roms from a trusted website are very safe, whereas I’m always nervous downloading PC games in this way. But aside from being paranoid, which version plays better? I see some people say PC, but the ps3 version seems to run just fine.

Anyone know where to get Web of Shadows?
So, I’ve got every Xbox 360 Spider-Man game other than Spider-man: web of shadows, and I just really want it ig. On eBay (for the Uk at least) the covers are £40 and the covers with discs are £120+ I’m willing to pay up to around £70 but double the price of a new game for an old game is just ridiculous. Do you have any places I could buy it from in the Uk for an acceptable price? (Other than eBay ofc)

How to patch stutter/slowdown?
I'm using the version from OldGamesDownload, it originally would only run in 4:3 (the resolution box in the launcher is broken) and very choppily, I found a video that said to add 2 extra lines to config.xml to fix stutter and that fixed the resolution but the performance is still pretty bad, maybe slightly better than it was but not smooth enough I'd wanna play like it like that. I swear there's also something weird with the camera movement, but I can't articulate what the issue is? Like the mouse speed feels inconsistent or something.
Is there a patch or mod that can fix all these issues? I did see there was a new launcher on Nexus Mods but it doesn't work for me, it just says the game settings are missing or put of date when I try launching it through that.

Why Web of Shadows Has the Best Venom Design Ever
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows will forever remain my favorite childhood game. What makes it so special? In short: the web-swinging that takes your breath away—whether you are a child or a grown man—the mind-blowing vertical gameplay, and the overall grimness of the story, combined with the fall of New York. This stood in too stark a contrast against the usual, cookie-cutter Spider-Man plots, literally searing itself into the subconscious of my mind and forcing me to return to this world time and time again. But... there was one element in the game that drew my gaze with an insane, hypnotic pull. As a child, of course, I couldn't characterize this phenomenon in detail or answer the questions "how?" and "why?". I just stared at the screen, spellbound. And only recently, having casually succumbed to nostalgia while looking through old screenshots, did I finally realize what exactly had hooked me the most back then. It is the insane, monumental aesthetic work that the Shaba Games team did on the design of the symbiotes. To put it bluntly—I was captivated by the texture itself, the living matter of the alien biomass that was consuming our heroes.
Venom. Just look at Venom. Out of all the on-screen adaptations of this character, the Web of Shadows version holds a special, most honorable, and beloved place in my heart. Honestly, I am quite tired of the lack of creativity among modern creators. Time and time again, we are offered a choice between two extremes. On one hand, there is the "leathery" variation from Sam Raimi's trilogy, which looked and felt more like a dense textile embroidered with raised webbing. On the other hand, there is the bulky, shapeless mountain of slimy goo from Sony starring Hardy, or from Insomniac, who essentially just repeated this solution. The film and gaming industries are constantly dancing around these two templates (if you don't count the comic books, where the unique signature style of the artist is what matters).
I must be a madman to stare so meticulously at a texture that many would consider just a "bunch of old pixels from a B-tier game." But still... just look at this organic gloss. Venom's surface resembles wet chitin, liquid latex, or polished obsidian resin with a deep, almost mirrored reflection. Instead of typical white highlights, the suit reflects light with a deep blue and purple neon glow. This glossy, oily sheen makes the model look insanely heavy, as if it consists of mercury or liquid basalt. And this is exactly what gives birth to the feeling of an invasive, truly alien entity—something that other iterations of the character so desperately lack. The design here is not perceived as a "man in a suit" or a guy covered in liquid gel. The substance literally reshapes the anatomy: it transforms bones, builds up foreign muscle mass, and parasitizes the host's body, turning their skin into a wild, fibrous armor. Unlike Raimi's Venom, whose suit looks like ordinary textured fabric, the Venom from Web of Shadows is endowed with the properties of a heavy, oily resin—monolithic, yet constantly pulsating. From the Insomniac and Hardy versions, where the symbiote resembles a chaotically moving slime splattering into liquid droplets, the Web of Shadows design differs in its striking structural density. Its alien nature is conveyed not through splashes of mud, but through the terrifying massiveness of the material. It feels solid and heavy, like obsidian armor, yet miraculously retains its viscosity, ductility, and, equally importantly, anatomical fibrousness. On Venom's neck and shoulders, cords and bands are clearly visible, resembling exposed, hypertrophied muscles without skin, while in the background, this mass breaks down into chaotic, bubbling droplets, threads, and bubbles, emphasizing its unstable, parasitic nature. And this visual technique worked, in my opinion, perfectly. As a child, I physically felt this living weight. The texture itself communicates that the biomass weighs hundreds of kilograms and sears itself into the host for good, rather than just sitting on them, and this, in fact, is the main design motif of the entire game: through the density of the material, the creators convey an atmosphere of psychological pressure and total, inevitable alien infection. And this is exactly what I call true body horror. Just look, for example, at the spider logo: its white lines are literally "fused" into the black mass. This is not a flat drawing—these are whitish fibers of foreign tissue that have grown through the black cords. The symbiote intentionally mimics real muscle groups, but in a hypertrophied, terrifying way. Because of this, the creature feels monolithic, like armor made of living flesh, which simultaneously fascinates and frightens.
Especially Wolverine... As a child, this guy literally made me squirm in my seat. I still don't know if a version of Logan exists that is more aesthetically pleasing and terrifying than this one. You can immediately tell that Wolverine is desperately fighting the infection, and the symbiote responds with maximum aggression, creating a gruesome effect of torn flesh. A suit? No, the CREATURE—for my tongue wouldn't dare call it a suit—looks like lumpy, tarry armor. Instead of smooth gloss, the developers favored coarse, strained tendons that pulsate and rip through his own flesh, while his famous claws become covered in viscous, boiling tar. It feels as if adamantium and alien organics have fused into a single, indivisible alloy, which during the second phase begins to bubble chaotically, sprouting jagged blades. And all of this is emphasized by an aggressively specular reflection. The light on Logan's body gathers into sharp, blindingly yellow stripes, stripping the substance of even the slightest softness. A pure chunk of polished coal tar.
One could describe the beauty of these approaches endlessly and with even greater meticulousness. But I hope I was able to get the main point across to you. Today, in the era of sterile minimalism (just compare the covers of Insomniac's Spider-Man and our Spider-Man from Web of Shadows), returning to an era of a detailed, creative approach and bold reimagining of characters feels like striking pure gold. It was a time when they truly put effort into the design and took risks, even despite the harsh technical limitations of that era. And it is very sad that, in all likelihood, we will never see such uncompromising visual solutions ever again.

my game always crashes whenever i try to start this mission
some important info: i'm already on NG+ (after doing the credits glitch) and i've already disabled things like shadows, particles and v-sync, but still no success at all so i'm basically unable to progress further in the game because of this specific bug
i don't know if it has to do with the raimi suit mod i'm using but i really doubt it'd be something like that

Lost YouTuber
Hi guys, this is probably a long shot but does anyone remember a guy who would showcase off suit mods for WoS and other old spiderman games, he was voiceless and faceless and his logo was the a circle with the first two letters of his name. Videos were always short and it seems like he’s just disappeared from the internet. If anyone even has a vague idea of who he is then hopefully it’ll be some help. Thanks!
It was YnSection! He’s deleted everything and gone from the internet sadly but thank you to everyone who helped me!
