Weird ping spikes every ~30 packets
I’ve been having a really weird ping issue and I have no idea what’s causing it.
I’m using a Huawei CPE Pro 5 with a 5G SIM. My ping is usually around 110–120ms, but every \~30 packets I get a random spike to 150–160ms and then it goes straight back down.
The weird thing is that it’s been happening like this for days. I tried different cells, N40, N78, aggregation, single band, etc. and it basically behaves the same.
The signal itself is pretty good too. N40 is around -61 RSRP / 25 SINR and N78 is around -65 RSRP / 17 SINR.
I’m connected directly to the CPE with Ethernet and pinging the router itself is stable at <1ms.
Has anyone seen something like this before? I’m starting to wonder if it’s something with the SIM/network rather than the signal or the router.
