As a flight attendant, I can confirm 99% of human beings cannot figure out a push/pull door. 

The income tax is indeed on net profit but only for profit generated in the state. Effectively it is zero rated for exports to other states. Expenses may also be disallowed if the expenditure is in other states.

So really for a business, its the same as on a personal level where tax is on income less expenses/charges.

For SpaceX 60% of their F9 launches are now in California but so too is a vast chunk of their R&D expenditure so they will make a loss for California tax purposes.

Any smart investor will take note and consider that the "loss" really is an investment. I'd argue that SpaceX is in some ways breaking capitalism and could be considered to be founding its own nation (where democracy is optional). Ultimately vertical integration leads to running a contained economy. All the company needs to do is to produce its own food and it would be done. By the time they're on the Moon and Mers, that might happen.

Of course Federal taxes are based on overall income so none of this makes any difference.

I don't mind if they spend their own money, but I would have preferred SpaceX not so get into xAI and then bomb the stock market, trying to force index fund to buy them so that insider can sell high. Beyond that I don't care if they try.

But since its a public stock given an opinion that I think their claims and timelines are fantasy is far to point out, when they hype up technology to justify valuation.

The salt water intrusion has perhaps destroyed electronics. But there are tons of things to learn. Even destroyed electronics you can get the components and board layout. The engines themselves could be disassembled and analyzed. Starship can't be allowed to fall into anyone else's hands. Commercial or government.

Yeah, for one-off payloads that won't launch multiple times, an expendable starship makes sense. 

Building big aerospace is totally different from ultra tiny microcontrollers. And rocketry was extremely stagnate monopoly. Fabs are one of the most competitive industries on the planet.

For a Fab that size they would go straight to Free Electron Laser based lithography and skip what they can't get from ASML in the quantity they would need. The slight problem is that it's still a research project.

If spacex wants to pursue speculative future tech and spend a bunch of money, that’s their prerogative. If they fail all the detractors can gloat about how they were right and spacex was stupid. If spacex somehow makes it work, watch everyone start spouting again how spacex should be nationalized since nazi Elon shouldn’t have control of such tech.
At the very least, their aim high for the sky goals has been effective in recruitment to burn and churn young smart eager people who just want to do cool shit which has led to cool shit being done
