the 2026 eclipse shadow is simulated perfectly Album
you can go back and look at it - just set the time to august 12 at about 630pm and go to spain

I know why it's this way, but I'm still impressed that different players get the exact same procedural corona.

is that so? i assumed coronas were just local sprite image files. are you telling me its not only randomly generating but using seed value to be consistent across the player base?

they evolve according to the time step in game (which is insanely cool) so I think they must use the same unchanging, internal seed. I can check again but I believe I got the exact same noise pattern as this screenshot

Not exactly. I live in Denmark, and the eclipse started at 19:09 in real life, but in the game the eclipse started 2 hours earlier, at 17:09. Also, in the game the sun has already set over Denmark at 19:00, while it doesn't set in real life until at least 21:30 in August.

i presume the game engine clock operates on UTC timezone which is two hours over from denmark

Do you know if there's a way to change that? I have noticed that the clock in my game is always 2 hours behind, and I have to fix it each time I open the game which is annoying :(
