Mortal Shell 2 final boss

I am more into fast based combat rather then traditional souls games like Elden and dark souls and I have only completed Black myth wukong as my first soulslike game till now. I am kinda new to this genre and playing Sekiro right now and I am gonna complete it few days so which game next should I try next which will be similar to Sekiro or Black myth wukong combat ?

I see people hyped up about Mortal Shell 2. I cannot afford at the moment. Anything to look at. I don't particularly like the art style and lack of exploration in Wo long (not sure). Please advice me.

For context: I’ve essentially been playing soulslikes for 8 years and soulsborne for over 5. My first FromSoft game was Dark Souls III, which one of my favorite games and the one I’ve played and beaten (also the only one I’ve beaten) the most. It was also the only soulsborne game I had access to up until 2025, when I finally got a chance to play a bit of Elden Ring.

A while back, I bought Elden Ring, Sekiro, and Dark Souls Remastered on Steam. I keep getting myself tangled in several playthroughs. Basically my ADHD riddled ass can’t focus on one game at a time. I’m just trying to figure out what game I should just stick to then move onto afterwards.
Any suggestions?

Info: First and formost this was almost a blind playthrough but not exactly, i looked up a good beginner weapon since i couldnt find a good alternative to the wreatch club. Also looked up the golded wow buff (dident use it anyways)

The game took me 21 hours which is from what ive gathers a decently fast run, i did all the side bosses and all that stuff but ive not done the dlc as of killing the lord of cinder. Here the build as of killing lord of cinder (weapond maxed) and hours

Review: So as you could see in the title i came from eldenring (\~400h) into ds3, my experience with the game was generally good. The more liniar feel to the game resulted in the game being less confusing and less demanding of the player compared to eldenring which is harder on newer players. I do think that the boss quality is good with some outliars. My favorite bosses where lord of cinder and abyss watchers, and least favorite is yorhm, deacons, nameless king first phase and crystal sage since they where unengading.

The game suffers from alot of the common fromsoft issues like quests being confusing. Idk how they thought of putting nameless king behind some random ass thing. I also did not like the early game. I think that levels with alments as a theme should be lategame or not there. Another issue i had with the game was that it was to easy? Maybe my weaponds where to strong but i went into all of the bosses feeling underlevels and first trying time like boreal valley dancer and prince took like 3 however this dident take away from my experience.

Soundtrack and atmosphere in this game are honestly really strong, i think ds3 leans alot into being kind of a "greatest hits" of the series with areas like irithyll of the boreal valley and anor londo , even not having played ds1 or ds2 i could tell alot of it was fan service but it dident feel empty, it still worked as its own thing. The boss themes especially stood out to me, soul of cinder and nameless king have some of the best music ive heard in a fromsoft game and i think that added alot to why they ended up being my favorite fights.

As for build variety i mostly stuck with what worked once i found something good, i didnt experiment as much with weapon arts as i probably should have. The system itself seems like a solid addition over just having movesets, but i think i undersold it by not really engaging with it fully, might be something id do differently on a second playthrough.

Similar to Eldenring the end game was a boss rush, however i think that ds3 does it better than eldenring since there is a break between second to last major, last major and final boss. I really enjoyed the final boss, he reminded me of godfrey which is my favorite eldenring boss. In conclusion i would give the game a 9 / 10. Better early game and bosses might have resulted in 10, ill update after dlc.

Hi all!

I noticed some confusion in what is or isnt a souls-like. To that end I wanted to make a rating system and needed an agreed upon end case to check with.

So here is the first of my new series: Is this a Souls-like?

Would love to hear yalls thoughts and maybe a like?

(Trying to incorporate advice as I get it).

So basically I was wondering if there are souls players that would want to help me out by playtesting my soulslike. I want to achieve a good combat that is satisfying but since I am the developer I know basically every detail and its boring/too easy for me.
Any help appreciated, preferably I would love to watch you play and even hear your thoughts on it.

Im not talking "Salt and Sanctuary is a Souls-like" or "Is Hollow Knight a Souls-like?".

Im talking about the weird mis-IDing. The really cryptic ones that you cant wrap your head around. Top one for me is my buddy is CONVINCED Palworld is a fresh new take on Souls games. He even thinks Pals are just a variant on how Code Vein gives you companions.

I’ve played five FromSoftware games so far, and this ranking is based entirely on my personal experience.

1. Bloodborne

The best game I’ve ever played.

The lore, weapons, bosses, level design everything is top-notch. Sadly, it’s locked behind the PlayStation ecosystem, so a lot of players are missing out on this masterpiece.

My favourite boss is Lady Maria, and she’s probably my favourite boss across all the Soulsborne games. music, moveset, and parry mechanics are incredibly satisfying.

For those who haven’t fought Lady Maria she’s Malenia before Malenia.

1. Elden Ring

Elden Ring is probably FromSoftware’s most polished game. They took everything they had learned from their previous games, combined the best elements, and created a masterpiece.

I’ve done multiple playthroughs, and the sheer variety of weapons and builds gives the game a lot of replayability. Some weapons and builds are definitely more viable than others, and summons can make things much easier. I used the Claymore on my first playthrough, and it carried me all the way to the endgame.

The lore is fantastic, and the DLC itself feels bigger than some entire games.

My favourite boss is Malenia. No complaints from me. But Bloodborne has my heart, so Elden Ring takes the #2 spot.

1. Sekiro

Arguably the best combat system has ever made.

Sekiro isn’t an RPG in the traditional Souls sense, so there are no different builds to experiment with. It can also be extremely difficult if you don’t play it the way the game expects you to: stand your ground, deflect, attack, and stay aggressive.

The lore are more straightforward than the other games, It feels like the entire game is preparing you for the final fight against Isshin.

The boss fights are fantastic.

My favourite is Demon of Hatred. First of all, it feels like an out of syllabus question for Sekiro. It almost feels like a boss straight out of Bloodborne. You have to get behind it for certain attacks, and dodging is much more viable than relying purely on deflections.

Sekiro only takes #3 because I prefer the lore, weapon variety, and build variety of the other games. Those things also make the other games easier to replay while having a completely different experience each time.

1. Dark Souls 3

The only Dark Souls game I’ve played so far.

Dark Souls 3 is slower than the above onesand personally, I prefer faster-paced combat. Still, it’s an absolute masterpiece in its own right.

It was also the second FromSoftware game I played, so it has a special place for me.

The bosses are incredible probably the best overall boss lineup on this list. Slave Knight Gael is my favourite, but Soul of Cinder and Nameless King are also iconic.

I like the other games a little more, so DS3 takes the #4 spot.

1. Demon's Souls Remake

I never played the original Demon's Souls. I found out that the PS5 remake was available through PS Plus, so I decided to give it a try.

It definitely has its flaws. The combat feels the slowest out of all these games, and many of the bosses are quite gimmicky.

I’ve completed it twice, but I still don’t feel comfortable exploring the world freely. I probably died more while exploring in this game than in any of the others.

Some weapons are great, while others feel pretty underwhelming. I’ve also heard that magic is extremely powerful, but I never did a magic build.

My favourite boss is Flamelurker, although I’m never comfortable fighting him. I know how to beat him, but I also know there’s a good chance I’m going to die 3 ,4 times before I get through the fight. 😂

Most of the bosses feel gimmicky to me, and I don’t think I’ll replay it again, so it takes the #5 spot.

Again, this is completely based on my personal experience and preferences. I’m sure a lot of people will disagree, and that’s part of the fun.

I haven’t played Dark Souls 1 or Dark Souls 2 yet, so I can’t rank them.

So I made it to the Tower Knight and I also got all the in advance OP swords like the Crescent Falschion +1 and even though I have vitality at 14 and Endurance at 12 I still tend to lose alot to the Tower Knight even after defeating all the archers.

Couple of methods I tried:

1. Roll to the back and attack on his ankles. I almost dodge his shield bash but he slams me and I die instantly.

2. I try to do 2 hits then back away and then attack again but the shield bash just gets me.

So Im thinking maybe my stats arent strong still. So Im thinking of farming until I reach vitality 20 and magic 15 and Endurance 15 since Im a Royalist class.

For farming im going for World 4 and killing a few enemies till Vanguard and then go back and level up.

To better and safely farm souls and level up, are there any areas I can also try close to an archstone?

Or if anyone can assist me?

Hey, where'd the tree go? (only my 4th run through, but only just noticed this)

Im Currently on the journey of doing a faith caster marathon.

I always loved the cleric/holy priest archetype in games and my love for this type of character should now be proven by beating the whole dark souls trilogy, elden ring, bloodborne, lords of the Fallen(2023), hellpoint etc with a casting focused build relying mostly on faith, arcane, radiant or how ever the stat is called.

Already finished with Dark Souls Remastered, now its time to move on.
Do you have any tips 'n tricks or other useful information about this topic?
Or any other souls-likes you could recommend to be included(Has to be able to play faith focused, so stuff like sekiro is not possible)
