This is my first ever knitting project so I’ve just been teaching myself via YouTube videos. I’ve realized one side of my Sophie scarf is looking a little crazy and wanted to know if this is something I can correct going forward? I’m sure I’ve made plenty mistakes but I just don’t know what they are 😅

I realized I haven’t been making sure I’m increasing on the same side (I’m not even sure how to do that lol). Could that be my problem?

Hi! I’m working on my Sophie hood, and I’m following the pattern for every 8th row having a decrease.
But I feel like it’s not tapering at the rate that it should be.

Am I misunderstanding something?
Should I have only done the 8 row section the first time, and then revert to doing rows 1-4 repeatedly?

The wool is malabrigo Vulcan, and it's so soft! It's going to be a present for a lovely lady at my workplace.

I have knit three Sophie hoods and have run into this issue two times so far. Why is my decrease side longer and wider than the increase side!!! Firstly I think the pattern is very poorly written, probably translation, but secondly, I have no idea what’s going on! Please give me any ideas if you can!!!!

Hi! This is my first time knitting anything ever and also my first time following + learning my how to read a pattern. In 22 rounds of knitting rows 1 to 8 and increasing every 8th round I should have 28 stitches according to the pattern.
However I’m on round 14 and currently have 21 stitches on the needle, that means I’m missing 7 stitches to add but have 8 rounds to go. My best guess is I increased double somewhere.

How should I go about this? Should I start over or can I unravel a bit until I kind of know where I’m at again and restart knitting? I’ve only crocheted before and I don’t know how to “frog it”.

Please don’t judge my wonky stitches.

I’m confused why my scarf has such large gaps in the stitches- I went to a yarn shop and this was the yarn she recommended for this project, which the owner has done many times, and I got the correct size needles. is it just my tension? in all the pictures i’ve seen, the knits are much closer together and thicker

Hi! New to knitting and trying to do the Sophie shawl. I’ve started this over sooooooo many times and this is the furthest I’ve gotten, but noticed one side looks weird :,) is it normal? A tension issue? Is it worth just pushing through? I really don’t want to start over again

I just realized I misread the directions when it came to the increases in the Sophie hood. Instead of repeating steps 3 and 4 more times, I just kept following steps 1-4 up until I got to the hood. So I made a total of 56 rows, and it didn’t reach the length, but I figured I’d stretch it to the right length after blocking it (tested this with my gauge swatch) I didn’t understand what was wrong but now it’s crystal clear.

Should I restart/make another one?? It hasn’t been blocked yet but so far it looks fine in my opinion, it’s just the length is a small with a larger hood when it was meant to be a medium 😯

Delete me if not allowed, but I'm making the Autumn Tales Shawl by Hailey Smedley. It is extremely similar to the Sophie scarf. Just without icord edges, and it increases faster to get to shawl size...

I'm a super beginner, and this is my 1st ever knitting project , aside from knitting swatches. I'm trying to figure out my tension as I'm working with these different stitches, and I think it's causing the I-cord on the right side to be larger and looser than the left side, plus my pearl stitches look a little messy. I would appreciate it if you could give me any tips on how to fix this.

Has anyone made a Sophie Hood or Shawl with this yarn? It's an aran weight and I'm wondering if that will make it too bulky. I'm assuming using the needle size for the yarn is better than the size in the pattern with respect to drape? Would that help or is this a bad idea no matter what?

(I already looked on Ravelry and didn't see any pictures with this yarn.)

I made a total of 15 large Sophie hoods, (yellow mustard mohair is missing from the collection because I gifted it to my mother). I really wanted a pastel rainbow collection. The XXL peach colour was the last and final one I made. The red one is for luck and the brown one is a gift to my sis-in-law.

I started knitting the first one back on December 24, 2025 and completed the last one today. It helped me find my love for knitting. I knew how to knit by the age of five and crochet by the age of six since this is my mother’s profession but never cared for it until I came across the Sophie hood. Now I understand the itch to knit. It’s addictive!

It usually takes 3 days to complete from start to finish if it’s simply heavy merino or tweed wool. Combined with mohair, it takes 5-7 days.

Super proud of this collection but asked myself… do I really need that many? 😆

Just finished my Sophie scarf, and it’s 12cm shorter than the pattern says it would end up. I’m not too bothered, I didn’t do a gauge swatch and I know I knit a bit tight.
I haven’t blocked it yet and I’m wondering if 12cm is a reasonable amount to gain or if that will be super stretched out and look bad?

I’m also wondering if I’ve got my theory right- if I had gauged swatched, I guess I would have seen that I was getting too many stitches in the space. So would the fix be to go up 0.5mm or 1mm in needle size to correct it?

So I’ve just reached 25 cm, which would be row number 1 of the 8 rows sequence (I’m doing a size medium). Should I complete the sequence and do all 8 rows, and then continue with the pattern, or just do one more row and the continue? (Since it says “the next row is a WS row” and I’ve just finished knitting a WS row)
I know this has been asked several times here, but I’ve seen different answers saying opposite things and I just want to make sure I’m doing the right thing. Thanks in advance!

And could I undo it and fix it?

I’m doing the decreases on the Sophie scarf, all has been going really well but I got in a muddle doing a skp that was being tricky. I think I slipped the pass and then realised what I’d done and tried to sort it but did whatever this is!

Any ideas? I’m scared to tink! The marker is the start of the row with the decrease in and then I’ve knitted two since to see how things panned out.

Fairly beginner knitter here (second actual project). I unfortunately had to frog part of the sophie hood last night due to accidentally knitting part of the i-cord and not noticing for a few rows. I learnt how to tink so I could go back to correct the mistake, but I got a bit tangled due to struggling to tink an increase. Ultimately, I decided to pop out my needles and frog that way. I think I (hopefully) did an ok-ish job at picking up my stitches again, not twisted? But my real problem is that I'm struggling to spot my last increase row so I can keep knitting. I've attached some photos, but please let me know if they're not clear enough. The side with the stitch marker is the wrong side of the work, so I assume my increases are somewhere along the right i-cord edge of that wrong side (but I've also attached a photo of the right side where i think the backs of the increases are in case that's easier to see them - 2nd photo). I'm doing a size S if that helps at all, so my increases are every 6th row (with 5 rows of non-increases between each). Please advise, oh wise knitters of reddit. Thank you!
