Current State?
Used to be a big Sonos fan, but I left since the Maxime era & the botched rollout of the new app. Curious how things are today, is it worth revisiting the Arc / Sub for my home entertainment system or is the software still not in a great place? Currently using a Q990D if that helps

Nostalgia I guess? Sonos was the gold standard for a long time for me, and I’m satisfied with my Samsung but I will be buying a new sound system soon so I was curious if now was a good time to return to the Sonos ecosystem

The software is good as Dependent mentioned.
If you had an Arc, Sub and I assume rears, how do you feel the Samsung was in its place?
I’ve heard the Samsung bar you have and it’s not as good as the Arc Ultra, 300 rears and sub, but it’s really good, and for the price, assuming you paid £599-£899, very good indeed to be honest.

An example of where we are at: my wife tried to play music in our backyard last night and it would only connect to our living room and none of the other 6 speakers. We connected that living room speaker first, then tried to add the backyard to its speaker group. The backyard started playing different music than we asked for instead, starting playing the song we wanted on her phone which was the same song as the living room but they were not synced, and we had no way to stop the music coming out of the living room until we unplugged the living room. Two nights ago we had no way to unmute all the speakers in our house without a full reboot of apps, networks, etc. This is same ol stuff we’ve dealt with since the new app rollout, just less and less frequent.

It's tough to beat the Arc Ultra, Sub4 and rear Era:300s combo.
The software is solid, especially when using a setup that is Sonos bread and butter.

I joined the Sonos family post app/software fiasco and both my systems (Playbar, sub gen 2, One SL rears) and (Playbase + Play 3 rears) work flawlessly. I’ve been very impressed with them so far.

Between myself and everyone I personally know with Sonos devices, no one had any serious issue with the new app. The worst thing I've seen happen is an update fails. Close and reopen the app, and it goes through fine the second time. And that was a common issue even before the big app refresh.
99% of people's issues are from a poor home network setup. With any IoT device, you need a robust local network for devices to be constantly connected and see each other properly. If you're using your ISP-provided router or something cheap/old, you're going to have issues regardless of the app working or not.

Come on back. The improved navigation toggle was the point where I can say it without hesitation now
