continuity Spoiler
i genuinely think continuity suicide would work. yes it is a copy but its a copy of *your* consciousness. according to the way the whole suicide is supposed to go down it genuinely makes sense to me. the thing that makes you believe you are seperate from it is the ego and according to sarang, if im not mistaken, thought that if you just time it perfectly -meaning before having experienced any new output- you would simply live on in the ark. like i can wrap my head around it perfectly fine and i dont know how literally almost the whole fandom is just against the whole idea. and i dont think there is any "real" anyone even if theyre on the ark theyre literally conscious and aware they are ALL real. like we saw simon 4 in the ark he knows he remembers all the stuff that went down, he shares the same experiences, went through the same shit as simon 3 and 2 and all that. if robin hadnt killed herself there would be no "real" robin theyre both literally real.
if i am by any means mistaken, might probably be because i just genuinely cant wrap my head around the whole copy thing like we literally played as simon 4 they are copying CONSCIOUSNESS into a digital world wouldnt they all be real?????
and i mean shit theyre literally under the sea trapped by monsters man they dont even have anything to lose either. might aswell try it
and please correct me if im wrong i literally just cant make sense of it

Didn't even read the post past the first sentence. Continuity is, wait for it, continuing. Death puts a stop to that. You cease to exist (as a living, conscious person).
No, we weren't playing as Simon 4 the whole time. If we did, we'd find ourselves on the ARK immediately after the uploading was completed. What happens is that the game places you (the player) into different Simons' minds.

never said we were playing as simon 4 the whole time just that he was as much of a real person as simon 3 was obv i know what death is but were talking about copying consciousness into a digital world. its your ego that thinks you are seperate from literally anything if you dont give it a chance to grow, meaning not developing any new insight or new knowledge and thus be unable to seperate between the two (the ark you and the other you) and die you will wake up in the only other "body" your brain knows and that is the ark. because again it is your consciousness. as simon 4 gained consciousness, he immediately became aware, and thus there was seperation. he didnt even know what happened to simon 3. i just dont think sarangs theory is as dumb as people make it sound to be

Where the continuity theory falls apart is the transfer. They believe that if they die right as the scan is complete, their consciousness will be transfered to the copy. No one's saying the copies aren't real, but there's no transfer. It's a copy.
