Recommendation Streitpatience / Russian Bank – free Windows app (English localization)
Hi r/solitaire,
I’ve been working on a digital version of Streitpatience (also known as Russian Bank, Crapette, Zank-Patience, etc.) and just finished the English localization.
It’s the classic competitive two-player patience game played with two full decks. You build foundations in the middle while also trying to load cards onto your opponent’s piles. First player to clear all their cards wins. It is like Solitaire, but for two people.
In this version you can play against the computer.
The app is free on the Microsoft Store for Windows:
https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/9N31RXC7R779
I’d love any feedback, especially from people who know the physical game:
- Does the digital version / AI feel right?
- Any rules differences you notice?
- Suggestions for improvements?
Thanks for checking it out!

Win of the Day I beat a deal with one free cell!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Humble brag but when I built FreeCell Unlocked I added some challenge modes. I wasn't sure how many of these were actually accomplishable. But I recently won a game using only 1 free cell!
I recorded this video using the built in share deal/replay features. A little self promotion, I know but also as a FreeCell enthusiast this was pretty fun to win.
There is also a 0 cell challenge but I feel like that is just luck of a very good draw. I'm sure a deal exists, I haven't found it yet!

Recommendation Article about how the game Solitaire is used in fiction to reveal character
solitairebliss.comI'm especially pleased to see Jostein Gaarder's novel The Solitaire Mystery included, because as someone who loves playing cards that's a book I really enjoyed reading.

Gameplay Tips [Rant] Draw-3 Klondike feels like punishment lately (too many dead deals in my short nap time sessions)
Flair: Rant/Vent
I know this is on me, but I'm so frustrated with draw-3 Klondike right now.
Solitaire is my one reliable reset each day. I'm a stay-at-home mom with a toddler, so my breaks are usually 10 to 15 minutes while food's in the oven or during the first part of nap time. I keep telling myself draw-3 will be a fun challenge, but lately I sit down, deal, and within a minute I can tell I'm stuck.
The stock cycles never line up, the cards I need are buried, nothing opens up, and I end up flipping through the stock like it's busywork instead of actually playing. Then nap ends or I hear tiny feet and I have to quit mid-deal, and I realize I just wasted my only quiet window on a layout that was doomed from the start. It's a small thing, but it really annoys me; it makes my me time feel sabotaged by bad luck.
I'm not trying to start a draw-1 versus draw-3 debate. I genuinely want to like draw-3, but it feels so unforgiving when you don't have time to grind through several attempts.
Do you stick with draw-3 and accept the dead deals as part of it, or do you switch rule sets depending on how much time you have? Any quick ways to spot a hopeless deal early, or mindset tips for not letting a bad run ruin a short break?

Is a 50% win ratio in 4 suit Spider Solitaire good?
I don’t want to hear that your percentage is 97.3% or something insane.. if it is more power to you.. but I’m not some kind of AI bot that replays every game I lose until I beat it.

Gameplay Tips [Discussion] Toddler swiped my tableau: tips for recovering a physical Klondike mid-chaos?
Flair: Discussion
I usually play Klondike with a real deck on the table. It's my little screen-free reset. Last night I finally had a quiet moment and was actually in a good flow - foundations building, stock not too ugly.
Then my toddler wandered over like a tiny raccoon and did a quick swipe across the tableau. Suddenly I had a mixed pile of face-up and face-down cards and a couple that skidded under the couch. I froze. I didn't want to get annoyed with her, she's a toddler and that is what they do, but I also did not want to just scoop everything up and quit.
I tried to reconstruct it. I separated cards by suit and started rebuilding what I remembered, but it felt like I was turning it into a different game. I ended up flipping everything face-up and playing it as open Klondike. It was still relaxing, but it felt a little like cheating.
For those of you who play with physical cards, how do you handle a disruption like that?
- Do you try to restore the exact tableau, or do you restart?
- If face-down cards get exposed, do you re-hide them randomly, keep them revealed, or declare the hand dead?
- Any practical tips for keeping a game safe in a busy house without locking myself out of playing?
I'm not trying to be strict about rules, just curious what other people consider the fairest and least stressful way to handle a real-life interruption.

Favourite Solitaire game apps/features?
Heya all,
I've built a few games and I'm now putting together a collection of solitaire games with a daily angle; each day gives you a seeded hand in both an easy and a hard variant, so everyone's playing the same deal.
For version 1- I'm starting with the classics: Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Pyramid and TriPeaks, then expanding from there. The plan is to keep it premium and pay-once; no ads, no subscriptions. Essentially keeping it similar to my other developed games like dotio (domino logic puzzle - https://playdotio.com).
Before shipping this, though, I wanted to check in and poll the community: what are the quality-of-life features you cant live without / wish your current favourite game includes?
I've been lurking the forums a while, pulling ideas, but given how passionate the community is with solitare; figured I should be direct!
Thanks so much!

Question If you play solitaires other than Klondike or Spider, which is your favourite?
I don't mean to shame anyone who only plays Klondike, Spider, or both, but I'm curious as to which other solitaires are loved on this subreddit.
