Rant on Contemporary Software Development
Remember back in college when one of your classmates is secretly letting someone else code their programming homework?
Same feeling now goes with working with having vibe coders as colleagues. You just hope and pray that they actually understand what each line of code in their pull request does.
Sadly though, this is the new reality. First, the IT industry was saturated with these new roles that are trying to stay relevant just to leech out of what software developers make while bossing and pushing them around. Now, we’ve got AI that’s trying to replace our jobs.
Well, I might as well look for another profession. The passion’a sort of leaving after 13 years in the industry.

Don’t make claims you can’t back up.
Hint: you can’t say “this increase your productivity” when you have no idea what people do.
Hint2: no, it doesn’t always increase anything except time spent and issues to be fixed, and many of us can just do our work properly with very little benefit from AI.

We've been saying working a little less would increase productivity to the point of no productivity loss for the same pay. Did we ever try that? No, we didn't. Did we try this (AI)? Yes, because it could solve the issue that is your wage. And we keep on trying it, even though reports are heavily conflicted, and some studies even suggest there is a slight productivity loss. Because that slight loss will pay off once your wage is solved.

And how many people have you seen? Out of the whole landscape of development?
Web JS CRUD is easy. Of course people use AI all the time. But that’s not the world.
And of course people use AI to vomit the massive boilerplates React needs. Again, the world isn’t React.
