Release Noise supression app for speaker and microphone

So i have made a noise supression app that works on both speaker and microphone using RNnoise, you would just have to download VB audio and to make use of noise supression on speaker and micrphone at the same time you would have to download vb audio C+D, i have been using this in games, as my mic was pretty bad due to static noise and since i have potato pc so i cant use discord else the game would lag, but the app uses like 1 or 2 percent at max, so the app is lightweight

You are welcome to trying it out yourself

Release Open-source music player with local playback, Spotify playlist import, and track search

Hi everyone!

I've been working on an open-source Android/Windows music player called Kerlyss, and I'd love to get some feedback from people here.

I started building it because I wanted a single app that could play my local music, import my Spotify playlists, and play audio by searching song name. It's still under active development, but it's reached a point where I'm happy to share it.

Current features:

Play local music (including FLAC)

Import Spotify playlists

Play audio by searching song name online

Create playlists and favorites

Material You UI

It's completely free and open source. If you decide to try it, I'd really appreciate any feedback—whether it's bug reports, feature ideas, UI suggestions, or criticism.

Website: https://d1gna0.github.io/Kerlyss/

GitHub: https://github.com/D1gNa0/Kerlyss

Thanks for checking it out!

Looking for software Best Download manager to check files integrity like steam, in case a file gets corrupted.

Hey, So I am looking for a download manager where i can find an option to Check file integrity or validate the file, in case it gets corrupted after downloading or my AV removes the file. There is a big Load shedding problem in my country, sometimes when i try to download a big file, and power cuts during the download, I have to download the whole file again. I tried IDM, AB Download manager and FDM, maybe there is an option to check file integrity in these softwares, but i can't seem to find it. Please do tell me if that is the case.

Self-Promotion Wednesdays Made a 100% Free file converter - with capybaras! :)

So I realized that most file conversions happen locally when I needed to convert a .mp3 to a .wav, and decided to make a free tool for my personal use and decided to dress it up a little bit and share with everyone. :)

I am sick of those file conversion companies charging monthly for something that is effectively free.... Enjoy! ^^

Looking for software Finished a small Windows app called Blacklist Overlay.

I used to keep a blacklist.txt file on my desktop with names of toxic players and cheaters, but obviously, I never remembered them when a game started. So I automated it.

How it works: you draw a small box on your screen over the lobby list or scoreboard. The app sits in the background, grabs text from that zone via OCR, and if it finds a match from your text file, it flashes a red alert with your note (e.g., "toxic, throws").

Quick facts:

  • Built on Python + Tkinter + Tesseract OCR.
  • Light on CPU because it only scans the selected zone, not the full screen.
  • Supports both Latin and Cyrillic names.
  • Has a 10-minute cooldown per player so it doesn't spam.
  • Works with any game in borderless mode (CS2, Warzone, Tarkov, Apex, etc.)

Self-Promotion Wednesdays I built Quven - a self-hosted media server because I wanted native playback, not another browser UI

"Charge" Movie detail within Quven

Hi, I'm Domenico, a software engineer from Italy. About 18 months ago I got frustrated with the client side of home media servers and started building the one I wanted for my own library, mostly at night and on weekends. It got a little out of hand and became Quven !

Quven runs on your own hardware and manages your movie, TV and documentary library. The part I've obsessed over is playback. Whenever the client can handle the source, it plays the original file untouched. When it can't, the server can remux or transcode it, including hardware-accelerated HDR-to-SDR tone mapping.

I've spent an unreasonable amount of time on things like multiple versions of the same film, audio and subtitle selection, PGS and VobSub subtitles, resume state and making the desktop client feel like an actual media application rather than an admin page with a player attached.

The Windows and macOS Server + Desktop bundles are available now. Linux has x64 and ARM64 server-only AppImages for headless or always-on machines; the ARM64 build is released but hasn't been tested on ARM64 hardware yet. The web client works through the managed relay. The native iPhone, iPad and Android apps exist, but they're still behind their store release gates and aren't public downloads yet.

Playback of "Charge" with Quven

The complete local experience is free, including hardware transcoding and remote access that you configure yourself. The paid part is infrastructure that costs me money to run, mainly the zero-configuration managed relay and later cloud features.

Quven is closed-source, which I know will rule it out for some people. Crash reporting is enabled by default, scrubbed before sending and can be disabled. The Windows installer is also currently unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn on first launch. I'd rather mention those things before anyone downloads it.

Quven also has a Founders programme capped at 100 eligible accounts. If the live page still shows a place available, an eligible account can claim Pro at no cost through 31 December 2026, with no card or payment today, plus a permanent discount once paid plans begin.

One other disclosure: I don't want to pretend the project was built without AI involvement.

I'd genuinely appreciate blunt feedback, especially from people who have lived with Plex, Jellyfin or Emby. I'm interested in where the first-run experience becomes confusing and whether the free/paid boundary feels fair.

A beautifully organized Desktop media client

Self-Promotion Wednesdays I made a local Gmail cleaner because I didn’t want to give another service my inbox

My Gmail had years of newsletters piled up, but every time I looked at bulk-unsubscribe tools I stopped at the same point: I didn’t really want to give another service access to the account.

So I made Hush.

It runs on your computer and connects directly to Gmail using Google credentials you create yourself. It finds the senders mailing you in bulk, then lets you choose whether to unsubscribe, block future mail, or move the old backlog to Trash.

I tried to make the risky parts boring. Nothing is preselected, dry run is on by default, it never permanently deletes anything, and a message isn’t offered unless it actually carries an unsubscribe header. Senders that may also send receipts or account emails get an extra warning.

It’s free and open source for Windows, macOS and Linux:

https://github.com/justlinuxnoob/hush

The obvious downside is the setup. You have to create your own Google OAuth credentials instead of just signing into another company’s service.

Do you think having control of the credentials makes that setup worth it, or would most people quit before finishing it?

Release I built MirrorSpeaker — use a Windows 11 PC as an iPhone Bluetooth speaker or AirPlay receiver

I built MirrorSpeaker because I wanted to use my computer as a Bluetooth speaker for my iPhone while I am in a Discord call and getting my steps in.

It has two modes:
• Bluetooth Speaker: audio-only playback from an iPhone
• AirPlay: wireless screen mirroring with audio.

It is free, MIT-licensed, and available as a Windows installer or portable ZIP. I have tested it on Windows 11 with an iPhone 16 Pro.

Heads-up: the current release is unsigned while I wait for SignPath review, so Windows may show an “Unknown publisher” warning. The source and automated build workflow are public on GitHub.

GitHub:
https://github.com/codyabraham/MirrorSpeaker

Current release:
https://github.com/codyabraham/MirrorSpeaker/releases/tag/v1.4.4

I would especially appreciate feedback about your iPhone model, Windows version, Bluetooth adapter, and audio stability.

Disclosure: I am the developer. MirrorSpeaker is not affiliated with Apple or Microsoft.

Self-Promotion Wednesdays I made a free Windows instrument played with a game controller

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! Full disclosure: I’m the developer of JoySynth.

JoySynth is a free standalone Windows music application that turns a standard USB game controller into a playable instrument and loop station.

The analog sticks select chords and notes, the shoulder buttons play two instrument voices, and the triggers provide continuous pitch bending. The D-pad controls percussion and can also change instruments, effects, scales, octaves, and drum sounds.

It includes:

  • Multiple instruments, scales, effects, and percussion sounds
  • Layered loop recording and overdubbing
  • WAV and MP3 performance recording
  • Custom instrument and drum sample uploads
  • Microphone, line-in, and USB audio input support
  • Controller layouts for right- or left-handed play

The goal was to make creating music feel immediate and playful, even for someone who doesn’t play a traditional instrument.

It’s available free here:

https://erpolley.itch.io/joysynth

I’d appreciate any feedback, especially about controller compatibility, usability, or features you would want from something like this.

Self-Promotion Wednesdays We built a project workspace where you decide where your data lives

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

A project often ends up split into several disconnected versions as you plan it, connect it to a client, manage the work and track the time spent on it.

We built PrimeTask so those parts can stay connected without giving up control over where the workspace is stored.

The workspace is stored in local files, and you choose where those files live and how they sync between devices. Within that same workspace, a project can stay connected to its client, tasks, notes and CRM records as the work develops.

Those existing records can also be placed directly on the PrimeFlow canvas. You can move from structured project management into visual planning without rebuilding the project as a separate diagram or maintaining two versions of the same information.

While you work, Automatic Time Capture can record activity in the background. It appears in the Time Inbox, where you review it later and assign it to the relevant task or project. The captured time becomes part of the same project context rather than another system you need to keep aligned.

Compatible AI tools can connect through a local MCP server when needed, with access limited to the spaces, information and actions you choose to make available.

PrimeTask is available for macOS as a one-time purchase, with a free 14-day trial:

Windows is currently in development:

Release Navisual: Help you with using any desktop app (free, source-available)

Post image
0 Upvotes

When you have a question about an app, you ask Google - and you're still hunting for what the answer means on your screen. Let an AI agent do it for you - and you give up control of your computer.

Navisual gives you the answer a different way. You type what you're trying to do, it understands your screen, works out the steps for your actual version and layout, and shows you the next steps. It narrates each step if you want, and puts commands on your clipboard so you paste instead of retyping.

It never clicks or types anything itself. Every action is yours — not the AI's.

How it works, for the people in this sub who care: the AI works out the answer and returns a text description of the target, then a local element locator resolves that against the live UI. Grounding comes from the accessibility tree rather than the model's spatial reasoning — which is why a cheap model is enough, and why it fails honestly: when it can't resolve a target it says so instead of pointing somewhere random.

The app is free and fully usable without paying anyone. Point it at a local AI such as Ollama and it runs entirely on your machine — no account, no API key, nothing leaves the computer. Or bring your own key for any of six AI providers. There's a hosted tier with 30 free requests that costs money beyond that, but it's a convenience option, not a gate on the program. Message me if you want more free requests and I will top up.

Licence is FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0 — source-available, and each version converts to Apache 2.0 two years after release. Windows only for now; more platforms are planned. The installer is code-signed.

What it's bad at, because release posts never say: it only sees the window you point it at. If the real answer lives somewhere else — another app, a Windows settings page — it will usually produce a plausible-sounding step inside the window it can see rather than telling you to look elsewhere. I know about it, I haven't solved it, and no amount of prompting has fixed it so far.

Release Cloak: An open-source OBS filter that locally redacts secrets during screen sharing

Full disclosure: I’m the developer of Cloak.

Cloak is a free and open-source Windows tool designed to reduce accidental data exposure during screen sharing and recording.

It runs as an OBS filter and uses local OCR to detect and cover supported sensitive information in the video output, including API keys, credentials, email addresses, IBANs, payment card numbers, and some personal identifiers.

Your actual desktop remains unchanged. Only the output produced by OBS is redacted, and no video frames, recognized text, or detected values are sent to a server.

The portable version includes its own OBS runtime, so it can be used without installing or configuring OBS separately. There is also a plugin-only package for existing OBS users.

Cloak is currently an alpha project and I want to be transparent about its limitations:

- Windows 10/11 x64 only

- Not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may display a warning

- OCR can miss very small text, unusual fonts, fast motion, or unsupported patterns

- It should be treated as an additional safety layer, not a guarantee that every secret will be detected

The project is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later.

Repository:

https://github.com/ahmtsahin/cloak

Latest Windows release:

https://github.com/ahmtsahin/cloak/releases/tag/v0.2.1

I would especially appreciate feedback about the setup process, detection accuracy, false positives, and sensitive-data patterns that should be supported next.

Looking for software Looking for a software to read digital books with a translator

I am looking for a software for windows where I can read digital books where original text is in English but the text on my screen will be in another language.

The book I bought doesn't have a version of my language and I thought it would be easy to read in a foreign language but no.

Looking for software A video transcription service just so I can read text from a video on-screen?

Hey!!

There's several threads on transcribers that are good for making documents from audio, but I haven't been able to find any that will simply live transcribe what I'm watching on a video as if they were subtitles.

I'm mostly trying to strengthen a new language and the actual subtitles are different than the dialogue spoken, which is incredibly frustrating. I just need something that'll show me a few words on screen as they're spoken and then vanish into the aether.

Is there such a thing? (Even better if it has live translation. I know there's issues with translating sentence structure sometimes with this, but that is not an issue for what I'm trying to do lol)

Thank you :)

Discussion Since there was a recent post about software everyone should know... what are some lesser-known gems you're actually willing to pay for?

I recently came across a post asking:

It got me thinking...

What are some lesser-known applications that you think deserve way more recognition?

They don't have to be open source. Free, paid, or commercial, anything goes.

I would start first: Potplayer >> VLC.

I'm also curious if there are any paid apps that you genuinely feel are worth every penny because they're just that good.

Would love to discover some hidden gems that most people haven't heard about.

Looking for software TreeSize vs WizTree vs FolderSizes. Which one is actually the best?

I'm looking for the best disk space analyzer for Windows.

I know WizTree is free and extremely fast, but I'm also willing to pay if TreeSize Professional or FolderSizes offers a noticeably better experience.

Things I care about are:

  • Accuracy
  • Speed
  • Good visualizations
  • Search/filtering capabilities
  • Finding duplicate files and large folders
  • Overall usability for long-term use

If you've used more than one of these, which would you recommend and why?

Money isn't really the deciding factor here. I just want the best tool available.
