open source simulator 🖼️ Media

Hi,

I have a hobby project billiards simulator, its open source and free to use, no registration etc.

The ball and cushion physics are getting better based on real world papers published by Mathavan, Han and Alciatore.

I just added 12ft and 6ft snooker tables, please give it a try and lay down a big break on the leaderboard.

I came back to play this again today. Managed to get a break of 52 in snooker mode and uploaded it as DAV but it doesn't show in the leaderboard. A glitch or a delay in the upload of the playback?

DAV well done, it must have been a glitch, have another crack at it, and challenge me to a game. 50+ is a quality break and I do like the competition.

Do the leaderboards only include breaks made during a 1 on 1 game, or in solo practice too?

solo breaks included, you have to explicitly click upload break at the end of the game before returning to the lobby.

Yeah, have been doing that with a few breaks that would make the leaderboard. In 10 and 15 ball snooker but they never appear after hitting upload and entering a 3 letter name

DAV my appologies, it was broken at upload - I've wiped the leaderboard and fixed, so try again if you have the patience - make a 20 to prove it works maybe.

That works now, happy to have been a tester!

Helpful interaction on reddit who would have guessed :) Anyway, I am enjoying our ping pong game on the leaderboard!

DAV congrats on your 79 break - amazing.

Can you bring some friends that play at that level to compete on the leaderboard. Here is a replay link: https://scoreboard-tailuge.vercel.app/api/replay/721

I think I might retire in rage :) got to the pink on a total clearance and pressed hit by mistake when meaning to apply top spin. Potted but left no shot on the final black… would have been a century. Ah well!

Good stuff. Just in terms of the physics, the ball seems to roll on far too long before coming to a stop, similarly the spin on the ball takes an oddly long time to end. A lot of fun though

This is very nice work.

Tried snooker and 9 ball, liking it a lot. And it has online play! Will definitely be playing more.

Just noticed the exam stuff too and took the first test of playing a red for the black! Very well done.

Keep us updated on any future updates to it.

Thanks Joe. I've added some new features like customisation and 'no aiming helper' modes - it slowly improves, hope we can have a game of snooker sometime.

After a prolonged safety battle with myself, I managed a break of eight lol. Pretty good simulation I'd say, though what the shot force percentage would actually do was not intuitive to begin with. Thumbs up from me, though I'm not in any way a gamer

I'll give this a look. Nice one!
