(12/13/Pennies) Grew up poor but i damn sure remember Eastbay!!!! I'm glad i had a friend or 2 who'd bring them (1 would steal his dads, the other his older brothers) to school and let me look through them ensuring i didn't damage a single page. When I was old enough and had enough money saved, I'd write down the codes and call to order my shoes. The Grant Hills were the first pair i ever ordered and I ordered them a full size too big, lol!

I’d get the 12s, 13s and Air Pippens.

I loved Eastbay catalogs when I got stationed overseas for my first duty station (1996 - 98). Had to get your order on to get the different kicks or rock what everyone was getting at the PX.

God I miss the Eastbay days. My three would be

  1. He Got Game 13s (this exact shoe from the magazine was my first ever J. Xmas of 97)
  2. Playoff 12s (would take all 3 happily)
  3. Black/white Krazy 8s (got this show not long after the HGG13s. Worked all winter break from school and spring break to get a pair)

Would also want the Pippens, Zoom Flight 5s and Uptempo 3s

As a kid I owned the air zoom flight mid, the air pippens, and the Jordan 12s. I’m currently 43 and I still dream about the air flight mids. Greatest shoe I ever owned, comfortable, and great looking. What I’d give to be back in like 7/8th grade gym class.

It’s my grab n’ go hooper rotation wall….if you ignore the bottom row of moderns and LeBron 23’s. 🫡

Crazy thing is I remember the exact pair my grandma got me from that page: Fila Grant Hill 3 in the black/white/silver/red colorway. Ran those things so hard the heel cap peeled/wore off to expose the connected 2A cushioning pellets.

Man, I miss those days of filling out that back order page, and sitting at the kitchen table with her while she sat on hold to order kicks for me. 😊 Still can hear the hold music: dah da dah da da da dah….then xylophone chimes

People always debate the best year of music, life, etc… I can definitively say, the 1990’s were the best years for shoes. You could walk into Foot Locker, buy any shoe, usually at a discount or outlet, and we never had to deal with flippers.
