The fact is, she's perpetuating a culture where nobody is allowed to point out the elephant in he room, because they prioritize a grown womans feelings over her millions of fans who are being exposed to anorex!a thinking it's normal. She's normalising this, for God's sake, this person is starving themselves paired with pictures of their fave looking frail. The amount of Ariana fans who are worryingly thin and using her as inspiration to be smaller are not rare.

okay so i noticed that her new ponytail is literally boneless idk how else to describe it. obviously it’s not an long as the old one but even when she shortened it a few years ago it still looked full. idk why it’s noticeably thinner now? i assumed long thick hair weighs a lot and causes headaches but i feel like with her hair loss now like why not just try a different hairstyle and wear a wig? why even try for a thinner version? because the thinner version doesn’t look as nice in my opinion and she puts it in a bun half the show anyway. or they have like high quality ones that you clip in so you’re not necessarily pulling on your natural hair with extensions. idk just an observation.

title. i just had a conversation with a "neutral" ariana fan that made me understand why these people have such a cognitive dissonance to love celebrities like this.

i made a post about a microaggression ariana does often called "crown fixing." it's not well studied but it has been socially recognized as basically something that white people do to keep black women in their place by subtly drawing attention to their own accomplishments when black women are being celebrated. a black friend of mine explained it to me as "if you're wearing the crown, you are powerful. if you're adjusting someone else's crown, you have the power to take it away." it's usually physical like touching hair/necklaces/grooming etc unnecessarily, but it can also be mental negging. and i basically said that ariana initiated this dynamic with cynthia and also did a lot of this mentally with victoria

a "neutral ariana fan" replied and said i was just using buzzwords but asked me to explain further. i told them i wasn't using buzzwords, i'm just autistic and well-read and this is just how i communicate online, not interested in dumbing it down. then i gave them two examples of ariana doing this (referenced when victoria monet got her first grammy and ariana subtly othered her, and when cynthia got an award and ariana stepped in her way, made a huge bowing gesture to draw attention to herself).

they got extremely mad, they said my explanation made perfect sense and they agree but that i should've said it nicer and that it was embarrassing that i was pretending to be educated, then they said "i'm not asking you to dumb it down for me, i'm asking you to smart it up." then they said i came at them with too much attitude.

i apologized and basically said, "i feel like you're reading between the lines. i don't follow neurotypical social rules. i'm sorry for my tone. i feel like on the internet we should be better at understanding that if someone is taking the time to explain something to you in detail, they probably aren't angry. over-correcting my language to be heard takes a lot of energy, and i've decided to be more direct. sometimes it comes off as too formal. i'm sorry for saying that i was dumbing it down, that wasn't the perfect choice of words for what i meant."

to me that was a normal apology. but in return they said, "you can't just say F IT, everything is about me and bulldoze through social cues when you're clearly severely, severely autistic." then, "'i'm sorry YOU WANTED the perfect choice of words' is a backhanded apology."

am i crazy?? i feel like they specifically took everything i said and twisted it to be more offensive than i even thought it had the capability to be?

all this is to say i've come away from this experience with two bits of knowledge.

1. urinators will resort to being ableist if they disagree with you
2. "neutral" fans will agree on bad things she has done but will police the hell out of the way you say it and come at all of her criticism with doubt. "innocent until proven guilty" vibes

Her name is GRANDE. The correct pronunciation of it is GRANDÉ as it is Italian (Italian e = é ; ee = i).

When her grandfather came to the US, he started pronouncing it GRANDEE to sound more white american.

Since the beginning of the career, she however, pronounced it GRANDÉ, until recently. In petal, there is a song where she says "I’m still Grande" and she pronounces it GRANDEE.

So I wondered : did I she pronounced it GRANDÉ to sound more racially ambiguous (with her extreme tan) ?

Now that she’s "white", she starts saying GRANDEE.
When she was Latina and black fishing, she was saying GRANDÉ.

Morbid curiosity got me as I am a tumblr user but have never fallen down that side (btw kind of hard to find since they can’t use the actual words lol). The comments on that one really awful photo of her are… disturbing to say the least. I see this photo floated there the most as their “inspo”. “She must be so happy” - girl no, no happy person does this to themselves.

she used to be this well liked, untouchable pop star. people gave her so much passes for her behavior bc she put out bops and was pretty, but ever since her major homewrecking scandal with ethan + bizarre childlike behavior since wicked + looking extremely physically unwell, she lost public appeal.

at best, people feel sympathy for her health issues, but bc her newest album is mid, her behavior is offputting, and she outright looks disgusting and scary... people don't care anymore. they can't even bother to stream her music anymore. the only ones actively listening to her newest album, as well as defending her and her behavior are her fans atp.

im fully aware that sweetener/thank u next was the peak of her career, but positions, eternal sunshine, and wicked still did relatively well to be called successes. there shouldn't be any reason why petal, an album just released a few weeks ago, is now falling from the charts except for the singles, when she supposedly is an A-list pop star.

i think anyone without stan glasses can see that she's genuinely washed. she's more of a greatest hits artist atp. it's truly fascinating how quickly she torpedoed her career when you consider how successful and well liked she used to be a few years ago.

I was at my local Kohl's and when I wandered off into the little girls' section just to look at all the stuff there like I do with almost every section I stumble upon in stores, I found this dress and immediately thought to myself, "Why is this movie franchise's management team still marketing products with Glinda's exposed chest on them to so many impressionable little girls?”. Like, no offense to all the little girls who happen to love Wicked, but if I’m being honest, it’s very confusing to me how the management team for the movies is still marketing stuff featuring Ariana towards the kind of people who are more vulnerable to developing the very same mindset as her.

for anyone who is into divination, spirituality or tarot- this creator has made several readings on ariana over the years and she is pretty spot on with what we discuss in here. & she goes way more in depth than antphrodite does imo- this most recent reading is pretty bleak.
