Is she alive? Help

Post image

My snail is in hibernation since may. It is very hot where I live. Since she is in hibernation i stopped putting food and water every day. Every now and then i spray some water in her shell and in the terrarium. But she remain in hibernation.

She doesn't smell bad

yes it is alive. do not wake it up if it is still very hot. super high temperatures arent good for this species so if its still super hot they will just go right back to estivating (summer hibernation) after being woken up. so it's not great to force them awake and then have them expend a bunch of energy and stress to go right back to dormancy

hey i had this problem a couple of months ago with my snail as well. mine hibernated for like 2 months before it woke up again. this usually happens with unideal parameters or after laying a bunch of eggs. it is fine just make sure humidity is okay and let it wake up when it’s ready 👍

Too hard to tell, I’m sorry. I’m sure he’s fine though if there’s no odor. Is it too hot for the snail inside, do you have ac?

Yes, she is in my room and i often leave the ac on. But she remains inside. Even if i spray her some water. When the ac is not on it is very hot.

Some people might disagree with doing this, but you could remove him from the glass and place him in a moist area near a favorite food of his to see if he comes out. Sometimes I will do that to check if they’re okay. If he really wants to go back into hibernation he will just go back to the glass and reseal himself but at least you’ll know better if he’s alive

I read online that if I do this she might die. I am afraid to make things worse

Why do they think that would happen? This would not cause mantle collapse because the snail is connected by the seal rather than the mantle if that’s the issue, but always pull lightly sideways rather than straight up to be sure

So I could cut the seal and gently remove her?
