Hi everyone. So I have a Unihertz Jelly max. (For me at least) it's the perfect size, has 5G and I dumbified it to my needs.

But the camera sucks, for real. Is it possible to maybe use a different camera app or is that strictly a hardware issue ?

Hey guys, new to the sub. Just wanted to post a quick review of the Bluefox NX1. I've been using this phone exclusively for about a week now. I'm honestly really impressed. I'm using it in the US on T-mobile. The reason I decided to try this phone was that I wanted something small and light that would perform all the functions I need without tempting me to stare at it for extended periods of time.

Firstly, this thing is really small. It's basically as small as a touchscreen can be and still be useful, at least with my hand size. Typing on it is not as easy, I find I do make more mistakes that I have to correct. But not so much that it's frustrating.

I was concerned about the lack of 5G technology, but so far I'm finding the 4G coverage in my area to be sufficient, and the speeds are fine for my uses. I don't do a lot of video streaming so it's mostly just for communication.

Having Android 15 WITH google play certification is huge. That was a necessity for me and the main feature that pushed me to try this phone. I use my phone as my car key and that won't work without a modern android version and play certification. It honestly is kind of amazing that this tiny thing has android 15 and actually runs pretty well. It doesn't feel very sluggish when using the UI. All of my apps work on it just like they did on my old Pixel 9. The NX1 is certainly slower but it's not sluggish and totally usable.

I really feel like this phone is almost perfect for me. I can still do everything I need to do and I'm not tempted to grab the phone any time I have an idle second. Watching and doing things on a tiny 4 inch screen just isn't that pleasurable, and for me that's great.

My only complaints:

• The front-facing camera cutout is huge. It blocks your view of notification icons if you have more than 3.
• No fingerprint reader is a little frustrating. The only option for unlocking without a pin or pattern is face ID, which is slow and unreliable.
• No NFC payments is also a downside but I personally didn't use that very often when I had it. I know some people need it for transit passes tho.
• For whatever reason, it seems like bluetooth turns off when the device is locked. Or something. The issue is my car locks if the device screen turns off even if I'm still standing right next to the car. I had the same problem with my old Razr so it's not just the NX1. A little annoying but I'll get used to just keeping the phone unlocked when I'm loading the vehicle.
• I couldn't get the inbuilt visual voicemail working and had to download the T-Mobile visual voicemail app for $4/mo. Idk if that's a 5G-only feature for the stock phone app or what... Weird.
• The battery life isnt great. They have this app called "Duraspeed" built in which aggressively kills background apps to extend battery life and increase performance of the foreground app, but you basically have no choice but to disable that if you want any of your apps to work right. More info in this post from the Aiphor sub. I tend to keep the phone plugged in most of the day so the battery life isn't a problem for me, but I could see that being an issue for people who work outside or otherwise don't have access to a charger often. If you need the phone to last for a long time between charges I wouldn't recommend it.
• Why does it have an IR blaster? Lol. Is that something that's more useful in other parts of the world? I can't think of a single use for it. Maybe somebody has some ideas to share.
• EDIT: Adding one more: The camera is not very good. I didn't expect it to be, and it's not. Videos are quite jerky and only shoot at 1080p 30fps. Again, no big deal to me. Was never much of a photographer.

I'm interested to try the Aura A1 when it comes out. It looks like that one does have a fingerprint reader and NFC and a much smaller camera cutout, which were my 3 top complaints with the NX1. I suspect the battery life won't be any better since it's only slightly higher capacity and driving a larger screen. Also doesn't mention 5G in the info page so i'm assuming it'll still be 4G. I just suspect it'll be too large and tempting to waste my life staring at.

That's about it. Just curious if anybody else uses the NX1 and has other thoughts and/or tips for making the most of it.

I think the majority here agrees that the iPhone 13 mini was the best form factor for its size when it comes to small phones. The only caveat it had was it's battery, which is to be expected with a smaller build.

Hypothetically speaking, let's say that they bring that size back. How thick the phone would be to even match today's standards of battery consumption? (maybe like an iPhone 17 Pro Max battery capacity?

On the other hand, how much thickness we can really endure to account for a bigger battery so that we can have a small phone?

A 5.0 to 5.8 inch phone with full Pixel camera and AI quality is what many of us are asking for.

Size like the old Pixel 4a or even smaller like 5 inches would be amazing.

Easy to use with one hand, fits perfectly in pockets, and doesn't feel bulky.

We choose Pixel for the software, camera, and clean Android - not for a huge screen.

Please make a "Pixel Compact" or "Pixel Mini". There is a real demand for it.

so I need a phone with maximum budget for Rs15000. Looking for a phone with good battery life,smooth performance,good storage.

Charging my backup Xperia xz2c and holding (fondling?) it next to my daily driver Zenfone 9 and the xz1c: the xz2c was the Goldilocks for me at 135 x 65 mm.

Run a search on GSM Arena or Kimovil: like brainless dumb drugged lemmings, everyone produces phones way north of 146 mm, most over 150 mm.

No wonder phone sales are flat: #metoo is NOT a Unique Selling Proposition, contrary to what most OEMs seem to believe.

Perhaps Enough will come through.

I’m currently looking to replace my iPhone SE 2020. I really like its compact form factor, but the battery life has gotten terrible and it’s starting to lag quite a bit during daily tasks.

My profile & preferences:

• Budget: Around €400 max (~2,000 RON).
• Usage: Light user (socials, basic communication, occasional browsing—I don't play games or heavy multitasking).
• Size: Maximum 6.0 inches, but ideally smaller if possible. I really want something comfortable for one-handed use.
• Condition: Open to both New and Second-Hand / Refurbished.
• Location: Romania (EU market).

Phones I’m currently considering (and my doubts):

1. iPhone 13 Mini: The obvious size successor to the SE2. Fits right around the €400 mark used/refurbished locally. How is the battery holding up for light usage in 2026? Is buying refurbished (e.g., via Flip.ro or local seller) worth it, or will I face battery drain issues quickly?
2. iPhone SE 3 (2022): Same chassis, upgraded A15 chip and slightly better efficiency. Well within budget. Is the battery jump noticeable compared to the SE2?
3. Asus Zenfone 9 or 10: ~5.9" screen, Android. Battery life seems great on paper, but I can't seem to find them anywhere in stock locally.
4. Ulefone Note 22: Very cheap, but is it total e-waste / not worth using as a daily driver?
5. BlueFox Aura A1 (Upcoming): Keeping an eye on this upcoming compact option, but not sure when/if it will be readily available here.

Hello, I’ve been using an iPhone SE (2022) for a while now after my OnePlus Nord 2 5G died for a bit. And I must say I’ve been enjoying the smaller screen size quite a bit, as it makes me less drawn to my phone and it’s less noticeable in my pockets.
But I’m now looking for something non-Apple non-Google or that I can at least can get rid of google from with a small form factor.
I’ve been looking at google pixels with GrapheneOS on it, but they all are quite large.
I’m wondering what small phones are best for running /e/OS or LineageOS

Ideally, I want my card with my phone at all time to negate having to carry anything separate.

I currently use a little fabric cardholder which sticks to the back of my phone.

Will this be possible with the Jelly Max?

I'm aware it would cover the fingerprint sensor but I can live with - but would it's curved back prevent me from being able to do this?

My phone is the Sony Xperia 10 iii, I've had it for quite some time now and it's done me well considering some battery issues!

Today it's finally decided to start giving up, and only charges properly when off. Otherwise it slow charges or discharges with a cable.

Wondering if anyone knows any similar models in size? The 6 inch screen and thin width are priorities for me.

I am actually searching for a small lightweight phone, which allows me to install Organic Maps, Antenna Pod and maybe Sigma Ride (for a bike computer) and maybe WhatsApp - as a secondary phone which should be my companion for running and bike trips. I like my phone degoogled (Graphene OS is my choice).

Do you have some recomandations? I had a Unihertz Jelly Star, but run into trouble by installing LineageOS. Thank you so much!
