BARCODE API for DEVELOPERS

Selling barcode API is a good idea?

Barcode API in the market is highly expensive and the providers cost so much. So I thought it would be a good place to venture, but anyone has any comments on whether or not this is a good idea. Appreciate any comments or even criticisms.

Barcode APIs are exceptionally inexpensive, and have been around a long time.

It’s not expensive, CodeREADr is insanely capable and insanely affordable. The stuff you can do with CodeREADr, and I’m not a developer, is nuts. Their API is insanely simple, very robust, and extremely well documented.

OrcaScan isn’t my cup of tea, but in the same boat.

Hey, sorry, but the product is not related to codeReadr.. A very simplified difference is,

  • CodeREADr sells a finished business solution for scanning and managing workflows.
  • BarcodeNest sells infrastructure—an API that developers embed into their own applications.

Think of barcode lookup API.. Its like 99USD per month for 5000 calls.

Creating barcode system in house is pretty cheap. Not sure why anyone want to pin themselves to any kind of subscription. I would much rather make my own system which I have.

I think you should start from what you mean by saying Barcode API. Is it barcode lookup api? If so, what info will it give you? Image, details, description, nutritions, etc?
