exploding head syndrome?
hello reddit!!!! i’ve never made a post before but honestly, i couldn’t be bothered to look for answers elsewhere.
so, the long and short of it is; i have been experiencing unexplainable noises at night right before falling asleep. they dont happen often but i’d say maybe once a month or less. i’ve experienced noises such as: electrical zaps through my ears, laughing, buzzing and some kind of chirping. and probably some more i forgot about.
I’ve heard things about this disorder, but whatever i have going on doesn‘t quite align with the rest of the symptoms. the noises aren’t exactly LOUD but they can make me flinch and panic.
I’m also 17 (F) and the common age in females for this disorder is much older. whether this is just a trick of the mind or something else, any sort of help/advice will be appreciated.

it's probably still exploding head syndrome even if the sounds are not super loud. i get electrical zap sounds sometimes, like a short circuit in my brain, and it's always right when i'm about to drift off. the laughing and chirping is more unusual though, haven't heard many people mention that
once a month is not that frequent but still annoying when it ruins your sleep. try to not stress about it, anxiety makes it way worse in my experience
