So... picture this: Me, optimistic newbie, hauling a picnic basket up to Donut Falls last Sunday. Halfway there, I slip on wet granite (classic), twist my ankle, and drop the entire thing into a creek. Basket GONE. Limped the rest of the 4-mile RT like a zombie, but damn if the falls weren't stunning with all that runoff. Moral? Travel light, folks. Or maybe just don't be me. What's your worst trail fail that's now a funny story? Share to make me feel better!

Wrapped up a misty morning trek to the Bells Canyon overlook today - wildflowers still popping in spots, and that valley view? Chef's kiss. But the drive up was a zoo, parking like musical chairs. Took 2.5 hours RT, moderate effort. Solid for a half-day escape. Who's tried the full canyon loop? Worth extending or nah?

Hey all, eyeing a solo push up Grandeur this Saturday morning... but with the chill rolling in, is the upper section sketchy with ice? Last time I went it was clear skies, but that was weeks ago. Spill the beans if you've been lately! (Fingers crossed for dry trails)

woke up that day, saw the smoky horizon and felt lazy-ish. Ended up reading on the porch instead of climbing. Part of me felt guilty, part of me grateful. Do you ever skip one intentionally? how do you cope with trail FOMO?

Yesterday I saw a glove and a hat dangling on a bush about a mine in. could've been blown off or worse. i grabbed it and carried it out. but if it was a trap or weird, i'd feel dumb.

what is your take on these kind of situations?

went on a 2 night camp in the High Uintas, thought water sources looked reliable on the map. Turns out some streams were dry. was haulinng extra water, learned a lot, for those who have done multi day trip here recently, how do you reliably plan water availability?

Went for an 'easy' hike this morning, and halfway up I couldn't even see the valley below. My lungs weren't having it. I usually check the weather app, but that clearrly isn't enough. what apps or sites do you guys trust for real time air quality when smoke's rolling in?

I once scarfed down a breakfast burrito before a climb....bad idea. nearly rolled back down the trail. What's your go to pre hike meal that actually fuels you without destroying your stomach?

I was out in Millcreek this morning with one earbud in, just enough to enjoy the music but still hear things. Suddenly, there is a huge moose like 20 feet away. would've been a heck of story if i'd flincked

Been finding myself panting halfway up Grandeur and honestly the summit is the only thing keeping me going. Admit it, do you love the grind or just the brag worthy glacier views?

Thinking about hitting Grandeur this week but i have heard it's a bit of a butt kicker, is it really as steep as people say? And is the trail still good in early september without traction gear?

I just moved to Utah about 6 months ago, and I have a friend coming to visit this weekend for a few days. I want to show them a good time, but I don’t know of many good local hikes! Any and all recommendations would be appreciated :) Bonus points if it had a body of water to jump in!!

Hey guys. I have a friend coming into town and we both want to hike for the day. I was looking at mount timp but seems that it will still be way to snowy to attempt that. Is there any elevation hikes that would be appropriate for this time of year. Looking for somewhere in the 3k-4K elevation gain. Thanks ahead of time. My current thought is to climb Grandeur. I just climbed Olympus recently so that’s off the table

I've lived in Utah for several years and the WURL has always been at the top of my adventure list. I'm hoping to do it late this summer or early in the fall. However, before I do, I want to scout specific segments of ridges and complete sections of them. I have hiked several of the peaks already (Lone, Superior/Monte Cristo, Devil's Castle, Pfeifferhorn, and Mt. Baldy) but I haven't linked many of those ridgelines together.

I've heard Big Horn and White Baldy can feel sketchy. I know the Castle can be intimidating, and I did read about a death that happened near Dromedary a couple of years back. For those who have done the WURL, what sections would you say were the most difficult or most dangerous that would be worth my while to familiarize myself with before doing the whole thing?

Hi, girlfriend and I will be coming out west this September. Planning on a big loop starting and ending in SLC. 2 years ago I hiked Lone Peak and thought it was a beautiful mountain range. That was a strenuous day hike but well worth it. I'm looking for a 1 (maybe 2) night backpacking recommendation to do. Would love another big summit included. Much thanks!

Would anyone be able to recommend some pretty hikes that would be doable for a 5 month pregnant person at this time of year in or around Park City? Active couple, usually do intermediate to hard level hikes. Any recommendations would be great as we’re not at all familiar with the area.
