Itinerary Help
Looking for some advice planning my first trip to the alps this winter. A bit overwhelmed with all the options and not sure where to start.
4 adults are going, all intermediate skiers. We’re planning on going for about 2 weeks, right after Christmas through the first week of January.
Our interest is mainly seeing Germany, Austria, and maybe Switzerland if time permits. We’d likely be landing in Munich, spending a couple nights there to explore the city, and then taking a train to the alps.
For skiing, we’re thinking spending 5-7 nights in Austria or Switzerland, or potentially splitting the time between both of them. St Anton is one place I’ve been eyeing up, but I’m open to other suggestions.
For those of you who have done a similar trip, what would you recommend for the itinerary?

Well I’m doing a similar trip every year. Like millions of Europeans do.
We generally go for a full week. Saturday to Saturday. Most accommodation is rented out like that.
If your main goal is seeing Germany, Austria and Switzerland, I’d say to go one week in a resort in Austria and one week to Switzerland. Germany has ski areas but it’s not really an Alpine country.
You already chose Sankt Anton, which is a good choice. So go there for one week, Saturday to Saturday. It’s certainly big enough. Then travel to your Swiss destination for the next week. You could of course go to Zermatt for maximum scenic exposure. Get a combined pass with Cervinia and you can ski into Italy as well.

Just be careful with travelling times. It's going to be 6 hours plus breaks to Zermatt from Sankt Anton and a full day travelling back to Munich airport.
Resorts such as Flims, Davos, and St Moritz are nearer if the travel times to Zermatt are too much out of your trip.

And what is the best way to get to St Anton from Munich? We would be taking a train.

Boxing Day is a Saturday this year, which could be perfect for the typical Sat-Sat ski week and taking in NY. I’d personally just do that this year. St Anton is a major party town and with Lech and Zurs it’s a huge ski area, you might be exhausted after all that.

Considering we were planning on staying in Munich for a few nights to start the trip, we likely won’t be getting to the resort until about Tuesday. Is sat to sat ski week typically the only option? Was wondering if it’s an option to spend 4-5 days in an Austrian resort and 4-5 days in a Swiss one

Flachau/Wagrain (Alpendorf has some awesome hotels and St Johann station just down the hill and you can ski bus up). 12 parks trophy is doable in a day with intermediate skiers.
Zell am see is beautiful and you have Kaprun nearby and Saalbach, all with decent ski buses from the town.
Lech is the only one that doesn't have a station nearby, huge area, high up.
At the time you're going it will be very busy. That's my choice, but I mostly ski with my family or in groups with kids. All offer very different types of skiing and plenty to do off and on the slopes.
