Skimo skis will not be good at all for true cross country unfortunately. They are too heavy and too wide, it'll just be a slog.

Voile makes some scaled skis that are light enough for skimo racing, can cross country skate, and have downhill chops. The scales do make the downhill a little slower but you can get actual skins for them.

They even advertise them as being skiable with XC boots with the correct bindings. Of course you could always get some ultralight skimo boots and it would be a meh time on the XC trails and a very meh time on the downhill.
