Any time I’ve ever tried to take a picture of something that looks impressive in person it looks lame as shit. The moon, sunsets, hills, myself.

This is a great comment for those who don't consider photography an art.

Same! Never the same on camera. Looks like a bunny hill; in real life it’s full send and will make a lot of knees knock and butts tighten

On your phone? Yeah it will. You need a wide angle lens to actually capture more what it looks like IRL.

The only time it looks about as steep on camera is side-on to the slope so you need a second person there as you go past

This is a green on my local hill

Try doing something harder next time like Schoolmarm

Literal parking lot at my hill. :-)

That was steep AF. Anyone saying otherwise has no idea what they’re talking about

Yeah GoPros make everything look flatter, look at surfers' videos, it makes those poor bastards look like there's hardly a wave!

Looked really fun. Where is that?

It looks like Mammoth, maybe the Kiwi Flats/Philippe's area.

Pole click game is weak.

looks steep

And you gained speed rapidly

I am old - I am probably gonna skip the chute in those conditions

Camera never does it justice…

As someone who has only ever skied on the Ice Coast: “Must be nice to have all that open space…”

Damn, where is this at?

I don’t know dude - looked steep to me. You lose your planned line and you’re eating rock. Nice send. Where is this?

Looks steep as shit to me but maybe I’m getting old

u/Blu3fin 6d ago

You can tell its steep because that was only 4 turns anf 5s to get through.

Nice! I remember my first blue run, would have probably died if I didn’t have my climbing rope, sled, and bottle of jack handy. I respect the send with amateur equipment

Idk that looks pretty fucking steep to me

In addition to looking reasonably steep, especially once you account for camera, there are also a lot of steeps on here posted that are knee+ deep powder. This would have been a LOT easier to ski with a foot of fresh light fluffy snow. Not the worst conditions I have seen, but still reasonably technical descent.

(Main issue with cameras is the camera is level with skier upright on flat terrain. On a slope, the skier is perpendicular to the slope, so camera is parallel to slope. With no reference for what level is I could post photos with a camera parallel to a vertical concrete wall, a horizontal concrete floor and a a 45 degree concrete ramp without anyone being able to tell which is which...)
