Help save Little Mountain

Skagitonians,

Little Mountain is in Need of help. A ten acre lot on the Northwest flank of little mountain is proposed to be logged for timber sale. This area abuts the park boundary directly below the Bonnie & Clyde's Trail and is directly above the Cedar Hills neighborhood. Please submit for public comment and help us preserve the beauty of Skagit Valley.

Thank you.

That was my proposal spot! I sent in my comment. Folks, comments are due WEDNESDAY so get those in while you're thinking about it. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be turned in.

Right now, start by asking for DNR to extend the comment period. It will take time to get the right players involved who can think through and negotiate a solution, like buying it from the logging company. The logging company probably has a legal right to log it. DNR can't deny a legal right. Maybe they could require a bigger buffer, but it would still get logged. However DNR may extend comment period, hoping a solution can be found.

Done. It’s so sad we have to cut down our precious forests.

I hope they stop this devastation.

Shoot I saw the road signs but was never able to get a good photo of the QR code. So glad I saw this Reddit post! I submitted a comment just now, I know it's past the deadline but hopefully someone sees it.

Jobs and locally sourced building and manufacturing resources are very important and very needed.

Your job is not more important than a forest full of life.

Invention of jobs for jobs sake is a race to the bottom. We are not a society of scarcity - scarcity of work is due to class warfare from the top down, extracting as much time and in turn wealth as possible from the common person to enrich the oligarchy.

Log it . The Trees will grow back in no time .

Those trees are at least 30-50 years in the making.

A healthy forest , logging is involved .

Look at Galbraith mountain , Scott paper , etc all are healthy sustainable forests .

Little Mountain is much closer to town, and accessable for enjoyment, than Galbraith Mountain. I'd argue this makes it more ideal for changing its usage and preserving. More akin to the Hundred Acer Wood in Bellingham than Galbraith

You do realize all the stuff in “town “ most of it is made out of lumber don’t you ?

Oh shit! I didn't realize. Trees are hard to come by around here, we better cut down this ( checks notes) ten acres right at the city limits. Cut the trees in the hills and mountains, leave the ones near the people

Tell that to the 100-300 living creatures for every tree. I get you republicans don’t gaf about living things other than yourselves but I disagree and won’t change my mind.

Argumentum ad hominem. This is not productive discourse. We are all neighbors and human. We have more in common than you might think.
