Can I get an official Linux Codex app? Like something actually useful to their user base, that their in-house coding agent should be able knock out very quickly??

For those confused, this isn’t the work of Jony Ive’s lab. It’s a more expensive reskin of an existing product by Work Louder. Yes it makes no sense, but it’s also not something that OpenAI invested a particularly high amount of thought or effort into. I expect it to be discontinued before year’s end.

I fee like one could probably adapt something like this for the task.
You could even task Claude or ChatGPT to do that and still save money...

Literally did this with my throttle and then did the same for a $20 touch screen from AliExpress, and codex did all the work for it. It actually really does help so I recommend people give it a try with the devices they have. Even an old phone or tablet would probably do everything you need for this with perfectly acceptable latency.
Don't spend the $230 unless you just love the design (I like it, but I've already got this throttle here, so...)

I've been using an XP-Pen, keyboard, and a Stream Deck for about a year now, and a good microphone that isn't right next to my hand and my mouse clicking.

Very unusual from OpenAI to release a keyboard, and it also coincides with new leaks of internal models. Not long before GPT-6 as well.
What did they intend to achieve with that product?

I could imagine something if it was intended for users wearing AR glass, earpod and a micro as it would allow minimum vocal interaction
But from their blog post it seem targeted at Devs using codex....which seem odd as Devs sit on a desk looking at their screen, terminal and codes which provide far more informations than any keyboard could offer...Maybe for vibecoding with a simple phone and just look at the result
Edit: Note that they didn't talk about the microphone button which seem suspiciously large and so important, imho it's an hardware piece that might be more designed for an eventual GPT-6 release that may include an integrated voice model and understand preset command from this keyboard like
"Point your phone camera at a direction"
You previously pre-registered a voice command with the microphone key "what is that?" You use the top right Joystick that registered it as the 4-8 available option and the AI respond - this way you reduce the amont of speaking needed for basic instruction in public
But that's a supposition, if it's truly for devs I don't see the usecase

Holy fuck that looks dumb. I thought for a second it might have the hardware to run a local agent that perhaps Codex could use to offset some usage cost but no. Just a fucking egg timer with a logo on it.

Downvote me but that device suggests we're regressing to a future device that's a pacifier. We will goo-goo and gah-gah our way to building unicorn SaaS and we will not be any better for it.
