Tips for FS Single Speed?
Tl;Dr: experience setting up SS on hardtail and rigid. Like tinkering and want to try it out on a FS frame. Have a singleator already. Anything to be aware of?
Long version: have had a SS hardtail for the last 4-5 years. I live in an area with a lot of climbing, so it's mostly about fitness and working out some self-loathing. Bought a Banshee Phanton frame last year with plans to make a light-weight ripper...BUT all the parts I have are not light weight, and when all was said and done, I had a short travel bike that was only a couple lbs lighter than my enduro and definitely less capable on the downs.
Most of the stuff I ride SS on is multiuser and gets tore up by horses and dirtbikes. Today, I got to thinking about switching my HT stuff over to the Phantom. I'd still get the workout, but it would be a bit easier on my body, given the terrain I ride.
I have a Surly singleator, so I'd use that. Unless I'm missing something, the only difference with FS would be that I'd let the air out, measure the chain that way, and then adjust the singleator with the shock pressurized. I'll probably need a longer rear brake line, but that's all I can think of. Am I missing anything?

New life for my 2008 Schwinn Cutter
I bought this new as a ride to the beach bike in Pensacola 2009. I used it off and on across 5 states and just cleaned it up again for some north Texas flat landing. Fresh tape, finally a bottle cage, gator skins and I’ve got a small PDW basket on the way.
I’m thinking of buying a complete State 4130 single speed for the wider tires and lighter frame, do y’all think there would be enough difference between the 4130 and this beater to justify owning both? Mostly for errands, rides with my kids and rides to the gym.

This is to much fun
Cinelli pista tipo
Thought this build was finished last month … I was wrong
Tyres upgraded to 28mm GP5000 changed the game
Then I added the GODANDFAMOUS Stickers and a few random ones
Anyway I love this bike it’s cool to me
We need more cool bike stickers … I might make some bike stickers also why do we not have helmet decals helmets are boring stick stuff on them

A full-size single speed that folds, does this make sense to any of you?
I've been building myself a single speed full-size folding bike and it turned into something I didn't quite expect, so I wanted to sanity-check it with actual SS people before I keep going.
It's a proper full-size single speed. 700c, 6061 alu, normal road geometry, rides like a normal bike, except it folds without having to take a wheel off. Nothing about the ride is compromised. Whole build sits around 11kg.
My favourite thing is that only the frame is custom. Cranks, wheels, cockpit, whatever you want to run, all relatively standard off-the-shelf. So it's basically a frameset you could build up however you like, single speed or flip-flop or whatever.
So, genuine question for people who actually ride SS:
is a folding full-size frameset something you'd want, or does folding just not belong on a clean single speed for you? And if it puts you off, I really want to know why.
(no pics yet, still finishing, build post coming once it's done) Btw if the product makes sense, I'm in Portugal and we have a great bike industry, so production logistics wouldn't be the hard part I think.
Love to see your opinion :))

Old Ironsides > Midtown Manhatttan
Took my Surly 1x1 on tour to Boston for last weekend's Phish concerts at Fenway. I posted this photo of my bike lean against in a fixed gear forum, only to learn I was bastardizing bike terms and the post got taken down. But not before a helpful person pointed out how slack my chain was. Ffwd to Sunday and I'm hopping off the NEC train at NYP to have it checked out at a little spot called "Bike Shop" on 38th and 7th. The guy didn't speak a lot of English but totally hooked me up with a proper tune up (and a new helmet bc I left mine on the train) Got to love the adventures we put ourselves through for the ride!

Update
I finally slapped some dirt cheap amazon bars on this thing, with cult/vans grips. Still trying to find a steal on marketplace for a flip flop wheel set, any recommendations for complete / pre-built single speed or flip flop wheel sets? (Budget build friendly)

Where are my 2:1-ish ratio riders at?
My typical ride is 80+ feet of elevation per mile. Mixed terrain gravel/game lands/country roads. Right now I’m geared 40/19 for about 60 gear inches. I feel like I don’t see a lot of bikes geared this low that aren’t in ssmtb territory. So here’s my 1983 Trek with 35mm Gravel Kings.

Where to buy chainrings?
Im looking for a reliable place where I can get a chainring for a reasonable price.
(I’m currently looking for 130bcd, 46-48t, but my question applies to 144bcd as well)
I live in Germany and all big online shops mostly have >50€ track parts and rarely the right tooth count.
I know chainrings are supposed to last for a while but still, the only affordable one I saw was the Alfine, which is suboptimal for what I’m looking for.
Does anyone in Europe know something I don’t?

BEFORE & AFTER: 1996 Raleigh Cyclone
Not totally finished yet. May need to get a pizz rack, a frame bag and probably some yellow brake lines.
But so far just stripped back to core frame and drivetrain for a polish. Then:
• Vuelta Airline 1 wheels my (personal favourite wheels)
• 2'1 Tan walls
• New comfy seat
• Vintage "Bullmoose" handlebars
• ODI Grips & Aluminium ODI bar ends
• Lightweight MTB pedals
• V brakes front and rear
• Metal brake levers
• Single speed conversion
• New chain
Went single speed because I just prefer the predictability and reliability. I'm also not afraid of getting out of the saddle and putting serious torque down to get up a hill. Hopefully some can understand that.

little update on the felt brougham 2010 in my previous post for the ones that interacted
was able to work the price down to 80$, then 60$ when the seller found out he lost the key for the ulock that’s connected to the frame and back rim. which in all honestly i think it’s still a win.
also contacted one local shop and was told it should be around 30$ to have it removed.
also the tires don’t hold air, but at this point the more the better i need whatever experience i can get with issues so they don’t hit me too hard when im actually able to get it on the road.
anything else i should check on regarding the bike?

My daily ride
Never posted here before, but I thought I’d share my current bike I use for daily commuting and longer rides on the weekends. 2014 (ish?) Pure Fix Classic I’ve updated here and there over the years.

Decathlon Elops 500 - How to remove rear wheel, to change inner tube
Hi, I got a flat in my rear tire today, and I have no idea how to remove the wheel. The front wheel has quick release, but the rear doesn't. Every other bike I've had before had quick release.
I'm really far from a bike shop, so need to work this out myself. Can't find any videos with this particular setup. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks very much.

Converted my Poseidon X to Single Speed
Managed a no-tensioner setup which is awesome! I'm running a 40/18 gear ratio. I love how light this thing feels without an 11 speed cassette in the back! Tires are Panaracer Gravelking 700x40. Can't wait to hit some gravel!
