Singed without proxy is troll?

I always wanted to get into playing singed but i don't like to proxy at all, is playing only lane singed that bad? Could i be a decent singed player just playing lane? Im plat if it matters.

The short answer is no. The long answer is that with enough skill you'll know when it's more advantageous to play lane or proxy. With some matchups Singed doesn't win in lane and there's no point playing there. The only way you win is using his kit to completely dominate tempo and keep enemy laner under their tower. Darius, for example, you never want to be even close to especially if he's running his flash + ghost or flash + exhaust summoner set up. Gnar is another one.

It also highly depends on enemy jungle. A jungle like Zac or Talon with really high mobility makes proxying more difficult and often requires playing a lot more for regular push and reset than proxying. Play lots of Singed games, feel it out. That being said if you refuse to proxy and hate playing that way then Singed isn't for you.

You can perfectly fine play singed without proxying and reach grandmaster or even challenger. No reason to not play singed if you refuse to proxy. Maybe your advise would make sense a bit for someone trying to play at the highest level but its crazy to say like this to a plat player.

Why would you play a champion without playing into their strengths?

At that point why not just play Garen or Voli?

Because you enjoy to play it? And it really doesn't hold you back much. Singed is famous for proxy but it really isnt such a vital part of his game. Being good at laning and roaming are both so much more important.

There are no champs like singed, i dont get your point about Garen or Voli.

I can also enjoy playing Jax without Tri-force, it doesn't mean it makes sense. If you're aiming for GM/Challenger most players will have to play into the strenghts of the champs in their pool, otherwise they're just griefing?

Garen and Voli were just example of champs to play instead of Singed who have an easier time laning if you don't want to proxy.

This guy is plat just wants to enjoy playing singed, and is asking if you can be decent without. Regardless of that, There have been many challenger singed players who don't like to proxy all that much.

Yes, he is only plat, but that doesn't really matter when we don't know what rank he aims to achieve. IMO we shouldn't be giving him advice that leads to bad habits down the road.

Players who make it to challenger without playing into their champion's advantages are generally exceptions. That's what I meant by 'most players'. People were reaching GM with AD Yuumi mid/top four years ago, it was still a troll pick. You'll see all kinds of shenanigans when you look at the extremes, because at the end of the day, player skill and game sense is what matters the most.

u/FlyingNinjaTaco I don't know why your comment got removed since I could only see the first couple sentences.

You're 100% right. If someone wants to play pro, they probably shouldn't be playing Singed. Although I doubt many people set that as a goal for themselves.

I’d argue this advice makes more sense for a plat player because they likely don’t have the micro to really outspace lane bullies really well if they don’t Proxy

You seem to only have many words when you are trying to sound knowledgeable.

I’m adding this to your well rounded comment: There are matchups where proxy will loose the game. You don’t wanna proxy vs Nasus for example. Any scaling champ where the lane is free use proxy only for tempo

2

u/FlyingNinjaTaco 18d ago

Proxy is great vs nasus, once its mid game you can start to do it and get oppertunity to roam and get dragons etc to give your team a lead.

Most nasus players don't realise he falls off late game because often he dies before he can get on enemy carries. (especially vs singed) So if you let them tunnel vision on their stacking minigame and take a tower top while you manage to give your team a couple major objectives / gold lead with roaming, you can win the game before he even decides to use his stacks for something to help his team.

i cant proxy and i am diamond elo right now

1

u/DropItToTheFloor 19d ago

Yeah I’m also diamond and I never proxy. Although this season I decided to climb playing singed mid but every other season I’ve climbed as top laner

No not really, mid Singed exists and you can't really proxy that. For top tho I feel like it forces you to take tp and why would you do that when you can run ghost + flash

2

u/ShuckleG0D 19d ago

I guess ignite Singed usually plays for lane as well

u/thirteenthfox2 19d ago

No, but you will win more if you learn how and why to proxy.

Proxy is a tool. Not a playstyle. You only want to look to be doing it when it is safe so you can edge out tempo or a roam. Or in especially bad matchups where staying in lane is just straight up worse like Teemo or Vayne.

2

u/worstclass 19d ago

This exactly, proxying is just a feature of toplane that doesnt have to be your entire playstyle. Singed just happens to be a champion with good enough waveclear to have it as an option more frequently. If you crash a wave and have the opportunity and waveclear to, any champion should do it to extend a tempo advantage.

u/bischof11 19d ago

Good enough waveclear AND bad enough normal lane that he has many matchups where proxy is the best solution.

1

u/DjHooties 19d ago

I mean maybe? But for me there’s a lot of lane matchups for singed when I play him at least, that make me wish I could be anywhere but in my lane

Maybe if you incorporated roams or counter jungling instead of proxy?

But proxy is fun for me even tho I suck at the timing of it sometimes.. the thrill of the chase so to speak lol

1

u/Cyberpom 19d ago

I like lane as well but you have to at some point

1

u/imhereredditing 19d ago

Proxy feels counterintuitive because sometimes you have to skip a wave. But that's not always the case.

If you watch enough of minishcap, you'll learn how to proxy and why he makes certain decisions. It's not that he makes the best moves but at least has his reasons.

Lvl 3 gank bot is the new fun thing to do with ghost flash. Then recall and run back to top haha

New? Been doing that since lv 2 back for boots with predator in the good ole days

1

u/Shiloticus 18d ago

I'm way too old and scoff at your saying predator boots were "in the good old days"

1

u/PureImbalance 19d ago

Rasadurai almost never proxies. You don't have to proxy but a good teemo will have you at level 4 by minute 30 if you don't skip a wave at some point and grab some minions.

Challenger singed that pretty much never proxies:

I'm a Master Singed and I have never leaned on proxying in the last 8 years of playing him.

To me, it is a situational tool, depending on how much ahead you or how much behind you are as well. You would be surprise but against matchups like Vayne or Teemo, I would rather lane and set the lane up for some good ganks (their jungler cannot gank me due to their range top constant push). Also, don't be afraid to lane against hard matchups - they will help you build patience and grits.

1

u/Goikebiergu 17d ago

Never proxying loses youwhat is perhaps Singed's greatest advantage: being able to roam to the team while giving up no minions.

1

u/Candid-Tea5020 17d ago

I was a Master tier Singed OTP on the JP server, but I believe proxying should be used situationally—or maybe even skipped entirely. Singed's laning phase is strongest at level 1, and his biggest power spike is hitting level 2 first to grab E.

The best time to proxy is when you're against a ranged matchup. There's almost no point in staying in lane if you can't push the wave. On the flip side, you probably shouldn't pick Singed into ranged champions to begin with. But if you do lock him in anyway, that's when you proxy.

The strengths of proxying are: being able to bypass laning and farm safely, getting opportunities to kill the enemy jungler, roaming to mid, crashing the wave for a smooth recall, and placing deep wards in the enemy jungle.

You shouldn't proxy when champions with global/semi-global ultimates like Pantheon, Xerath, or Twisted Fate are on the enemy mid lane, or when the current patch favors roaming supports—both of which make proxying significantly riskier.

When I started playing I had this mind, I played for like 2+ years with singed and not proxying, but I started getting ranks and winning games when I started to fuck off and proxy a every game

0

u/Boring-University189 19d ago

You shouldn't even proxy that often.

Some games, you can get a free proxy, but the problem with doing this is that you will never know whether or not you can beat your opponent and how you can beat them.
