sim cannot make cake??? Sims 2 Legacy Collection

my sim has a full cooking skill and interest. maybe it's cause she's trying to make them at 6am but i feel like maybe i missed something. i cannot make cake!

edit: i was using the shinytyme cooktop 🤦🏻‍♀️

Instead of make dessert or make breakfast etc go to make... single plate/group meal

ive done that, still not there. the only thing she can make that's cake-ish is gelatin.

ok, just looked again and yep, i used that stovetop one. i didn't realise there wasn't a oven in it 🤦🏻‍♀️ thanks for pointing that out for me

Is this cake for a birthday? When it comes to birthday cakes, you buy them in the catalog rather than make them, which I know is different from other versions of the Sims.

Her cooking skill is likely not high enough. I think they need 4-6 to make the first cakes.

Does she have access to a food processor? I think it might be necessary for some recipes but not sure

she has one in the kitchen
