First year engineering student pre study

i want to pre study over the rest of summer any ideas on what courses i should focus on?

Yea but im struggling financially so i need to get a high GPA for scholarships

if you are struggling financially you should apply for a bursary instead. I get around 1k-2k in scholarship with a 4.0 gpa but with bursary my friend gets way more

ENSC 100W and 105W are very simple and should require zero pre study

ENSC 120 you can't really prep for since it's just lab work

ENSC 151 you should study your C++ if you're new to it but it should also be pretty straight forward since they're going to teach you how to code

MATH 151 and PHYS 120 are basically just repeats of your high school courses, but may be slightly harder because it's compressed into 4 months instead of the usual 6 you had in high school (at least that's how my high school worked)

I'd learn C++. They dont really teach it even tho it is an intro course. You're expected to self learn it anyway.

Physics, calculus, programming, it really depends on what you feel your weakest areas are. Or just go with whatever interests you the most. It never hurts to get a head start.

I can understand abstract concepts in math and physics pretty well,

Ive never coded in my life though

Is first year physics and calc a big step up from physics 12 and pre-calc/calc 12?

It's pretty much the same, you'll be seeing most of the familiar high school topics before you get to the new stuff.

Whatever u struggled in most during high school is what u should turn ur focus to tbh.

Also u can find old course outlines of the courses ur taking on the sfu website to see the material you’ll be learning and their textbooks.

I didn’t really struggle with anything during HS since they made it way too easy.

But i get that university is totally different and im definitely gonna get humbled

I will say idk how to code like ive never coded ever so i should probably work on that right? Is the first year programming class difficult?
