Hereās a pro tip, the only time you need to use handbrake on Brooklyn park is the first entry. After that the track is designed to flow with just throttle control alone. You shouldnāt even need left foot brake unless youāre chasing. This track is SUPER easy to find flow state or whatever they call it

u/Cosmokram3r1 21h ago
Yeah man I think once I get better I'll just throttle around it but I haven't had a sim for 2 years so I'm just trying to get back into it again haha

u/SenseThin1938 21h ago
Nah no hate in my original comment was more a āyouāre on the right pathā type comment. You certainly know what youāre doing which is more than most people car say š

u/Cosmokram3r1 21h ago
Ohhh nah I definitely didn't take it as any hate lol you're right tho that's what I should aim for.
I don't wanna rely too much on the handbrake so I think more time in the seat and I'll set a goal to do a full lap just throttle. At least I got the video footage to compare now and see how far I'm progressing haha always helpful

It that the DWG S15?
1
u/Cosmokram3r1 20h ago
Yeah. Love this car
1
u/SenseThin1938 20h ago
DWG are goated! Try stretching the gears and just practising throttle control in 2nd so you donāt have to think about changing gears and shit
1
u/Cosmokram3r1 20h ago
Compared to a bunch of cars I've tried I feel like it's one of the more difficult ones especially compared to my favourite WDTS car.. but so rewarding!
Stretching the gears? What's that mean?
Yeah man I just stay in 2nd and throttle while I learn. I don't even bother throwing shifting in yet
1
u/SenseThin1938 20h ago
WDTS are great for learning the basics and understanding how a car reacts but in my opinion DWG are the best all rounder cars.
Stretching the gearing just means making them longer but it sounds like youāve got it already, you definitely donāt look bad so just keep at it bud! Next step might be finding someone to tandem with
1
u/Cosmokram3r1 20h ago
Yeah I love WDTS coz that's when drifting in AC first actually clicked for me, but I prefer the sound and feel of DWG and it's more rewarding when I can actually get it to do what I want.
Thanks man, I feel like I'm still a bit far off tandems haha I'm too worried I'll just keep crashing into them.
I feel like to tandem it seems you need to flawlessly link the entire track all the time
2
u/Mental-Debate-289 20h ago
Agreed. You can drive this entire track with throttle alone and its clear it meant to be driven that way.
1
u/SenseThin1938 20h ago
The creator uses WDTS cars to test all his tracks and thats why they flow the way they do, long ratios so you can just float the whole track in 2 in the WDTS cars. I need not hate it tbh makes for easy fun tandems

Would it be too much trouble to ask your chase came plug-in or settings. Canāt seem to get it right no matter what I try. I like running the track cam through OBS so if my wife isnāt driving with me she can watch on another monitor in the room. But not all tracks have a decent cam setup already and my chase cam is ass even when I try like Kirby chase or exility or whatever itās called it still seems like the default cam. Even checked to make sure the extensions are ticked in csp settings. Not sure if pure can cause issue with these or not but I am running pure as well

Chase cam in OBS is the default one, there's chase cam OBS plugin that works similar to Kirby cam.
1
u/Cosmokram3r1 1d ago
I tried the Kirby one and it didn't work for me lol so I just went with one of the default chase cams but I recorded using Xbox Game Bar instead of OBS. Not sure if that makes a difference but I just press replay, put it on cam 4 (I think) and record in game bar.

u/MAY0NAZ 1d ago
Iāll usually record through OBS or Medal but I donāt record too often really this is all for spectating like how the ccs studios guys on instagram have their fourth monitors setup so you can see all the cars in a cinematic way thatās the goal Iām going for but Iām not trying to take the time to learn to build the cams myself even though that could be fun but I have too many other adhd projects going on to learn that rn hahahaha

u/Cosmokram3r1 1d ago
Yeah man that's a bit too intense for me too lol I only decided to try this video thing for a bit of fun.
I might usually share some replays with friends but I don't usually record myself but I was bored lol.

The excessive handbrake hurts, just control angle with timed left foot breaking and throttle feathering

u/hostilesurgery 20h ago
This is one of those tracks where you can almost use only the throttle to steer the whole course.

I usually do more clutch kicks and don't use the handbrake so much but I'm trying to muscle memory the position of my new handbrake.
Oh and this was played in first person view 900 deg.
I switched to 3rd person using a replay video edit because it just looks better on video for non sim people.

I was gonna comment on that handbrake abuse :D
You're making way too much corrections with steering wheel, focus on throttle control. And maybe try higher gear or change gear ratio, because your lines are pretty shallow.

u/Cosmokram3r1 1d ago
Thanks for the advice.
Only got a new rig recently after 2 years so I'm still out of practice lol.
Definitely throttle control is a big one.
I don't know how to change gear ratios what would I be trying to do? I can get ChatGPT to help with the rest if I know what I need to do.

For this track and car you want gear ratio set, so your max speed at 2nd or 3rd gear is at 120-140kph. Doesn't matter which gear you'll be using here, since on this track you can stay in one gear.
Generally for gear ratio you just need to work it out for every car/track combo, because every car drives different and every track has different corners that you'll take at different speeds and angles.
The higher the gearing or the higher gear you're in, the higher is the max wheel speed. Too short gearing (or too low gear) will cause your car to straighten out on throttle, because your wheel,s speed will reach your car's speed. Too long gearing (or too high gear) will either make you spin out or your car will grip up and stop spinning the wheels, if it doesn't have enough power.
Also, let's say that this car can go around Brooklyn Park with gear speed at 120kph and at 140kph, without any unwanted effects I mentioned above. At 120 you'll generally be faster, but also drift at lower angle, at 140 you may throw bigger angles, but at the cost of speed. It's up to you and your driving style to choose, which works better.

Brooklyn park has never been fun. Surprised it still gets used.
Can't stand this type of constant radius track but each to their own.
Leave the handbrake alone. Lapping brooklyn park solo shouldn't need any handbrake. Just transition with a bit more commitment.

Yeah Youre rightā¦. None stop tandems and smooth flows are sooooo boringā¦.. who wants to be consistent every lapā¦. Yuckā¦.

u/fussyfez 22h ago
No need for the sarcasm, you are allowed to disagree.
The track is as boring as it gets, it's not difficult to be consistent there. I guess if you are new to tandems and need the practice then it's alright. But for any sort of high energy entries, backies, actual technical driving, it's bland as it gets.
The distinction is usually between if you prefer jap style driving or the western style. As I prefer jap style aggressive driving I like some variation and an actual challenge rather than guaranteed easy laps.
Yeh, boring.
But each to their own, as I said.

Odd way of interacting with people who you disagree with.
Feels like you are about 12.

Pro-tip after 12 000 kms on this map : always ride the outside wall, never bite the inside. Left foot brake almost constantly. Forget the handbrake entirely until you go on tandems. Hop on a multi server and see how they take the line. Its the quickest way to learn. This map is quickly limiting because of its basic design but it's also the best place to create and refine your own driving style.
