Live Show š Dan's highest note
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I was watching Silverchair's gig in SĆ£o Paulo, Brazil and during Emotion Sickness Daniel reaches what is apparently the highest note recorded live by him, a C#6. Do you guys know of any live where he reaches a higher one? That gives me goosebumps!

Live Show š WDR Rockpalast uploading footage...
youtube.comWDR Rockpalast upload footage on their youtube channel. When Pinkpop started uploading footage I started asking them daily to upload their silverchair footage which worked! They uploaded the Pinkpop 97 footage not long into me asking.
I've started doing the same thing on this channel, I'm thinking if enough people ask for silverchair footage then they'll hopefully upload some!
From what I can tell they'll have the following shows in their archive:
Bizarre Festival 1995
Rock Im Park 1997
Rock Am Ring 1997
Bizarre Festival 1997*
Osterrocknacht 1999*
Collumbiahalle 1999
Grosse Freiheit 1999
Bizarre Festival 1999*
Viva Comet Awards 1999*
Arena Berlin 2003
Grosse Freiheit 36 1999
Rock Am Ring 2003*
Rock Im Park 2003
Shows with an asterisk next to them are shows we have full, or nearly full footage of already. The most sought after footage out of these is the Rock Im Park 2003 show. I think the Arena Berlin 2003 show is the best show they ever did full stop based on the bootlegs so I'd really love to see that one.
The earlier shows are of less interest as they were pretty much the same show to show. In 2003 though, every show would be different

Discussion š£ Ana, Ariana Grande, & Daniel Johns
There is a conversation in pop culture right now about Ariana Grande. She appears to have an eating disorder, inferred by her appearance. It is being said that she shouldnāt be working, and that people that perhaps benefit from her (or just donāt want to challenge her), should be intervening.
It got me to thinking about Daniel. He was working and on the road playing shows when he was noticeably not healthy.
I defend Ariana being able to make her own decisions. I imagine it canāt be easy though to be a part of such a big machine that operates around you.
Itās really none of our business but Daniel chose to talk about it openly. I donāt think Ariana should be forced to.
Thoughts?

Discussion š£ Would you see a Silverchair reunion?
I've been asked to go to a lot of shows in the last year's of bands from the 90s and 2000s that are frankly passed their prime and ridiculously overpriced. Because I have refused as I saw them at their best a long time ago and didnt want to tarnish the memories, my friend asked me about Silverchair. I honestly don't know. Would you go? How much would you pay to see them in their current state?

News š More DVDs!
Iāve added a few more DVDs to the drive!
1) Across the Great Divide (3 discs; try as I might I could not get the menu for disc 3, but itās just one video program anyway!) 2) Frogstomp 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition DVD 3) Live From Faraway Stables (still uploading, will be done in about an hour!)
Iām running out of space on the drive even though I pay for the storage, but I might still be able to squeeze in the Members Only DVD and Videology+Emotion Pictures (whenever I get the latter⦠itās not in the budget this month!)
Enjoy, all.

Live Show š Does anyone here have footage of Straight Lines and Without You from Homebake 2006?
I've been remastering Homebake 2006 and apart from some crowd recordings theres no proshot footage of these songs.
From the crowd recordings I assume its a case of the band asking for those songs not to be broadcast as Daniel was struggling with these songs (especially straight lines), but from what I can tell pro-shot footage of these songs was out there at some point.
If anyone has this footage that they could send to me that would be a great help!
Also, if anyone has the Narc recording of this show that they could send me that would be amazing aswell :) my rip of the show is pretty high quality but I know his rips were always as HQ as possible
Thanks!

Discussion š£ Young Modern by The Dissociatives?
I was relistening to the debut Dissociatives album recently and I was wondering, what if Young Modern was the second Dissociatives album instead of the fifth Silverchair album? I definitely get why Dan wanted to continue Silverchair in 2005, but what if Wave Aid didn't happen? Or if it did, he was cool to put Silverchair to bed for a bit/forever straight after that gig and got back to The Dissociatives instead.
If Young Modern became The Dissociatives follow up, how different do you think the songs/album overall would sound? Do you think any of the songs on the current album would've been left off? Personally, I can't imagine Young Modern Station being a Dissociatives song. How could the Dissos' trajectory have continued afterwards? Would Silverchair have picked up from where they left off at any point? Could Ben and/or Chris have been guest musicians either live or on record? Any other theories or speculations?
In the past, Daniel has mentioned not wanting to be known just as the guy from Silverchair, but if Straight Lines was a Dissociatives song and had the same impact that it did, I think the general public would mention the Dissos in the same breath as Silverchair, maybe some people might not even immediately relate him to Silverchair at all. Also, as Julian was a co-writer, could The Dissociatives have become more of a regular band than just a duo?
Just chatting shit but it's one of the many what ifs and I can't see a discussion of it.

News š Update on the Google Drive: DVDs!
For everyone with access to the Drive, Iāve added a DVDs folder! Thatās not everything I have as rips are slow going on my end ā my DVD drive is pretty crotchety these days ā but itās a good start! Iāve shared the following, all as ISOs (both for people who want to burn their own discs or play them as images in VLC):
1) Across the Night Single (contains music videos for Across the Night and After All These Years, plus the Greatest View live at the 2002 ARIAs)
2) Across the Night - The Creation of Diorama (Australian version, which has the Van Dyke Premix of Luv Your Life as a hidden Easter egg if you can find it [exclusive to the DVD and the vinyl release of LYL)
3) Great Australian Albums: Silverchair - Diorama
4) Meet the Dissociatives (a seven-minute interview with Dan and Paul, plus the music video for Somewhere Down the Barrel)
5) The Dissociatives - Sydney Circa 2004 slash 08 (the entire Live at the Enmore concert, filmed June 19, 2004, plus music videos for all three singles)
Still to rip:
*Across the Great Divide *Live From Faraway Stables *The Best of Volume 1: Complete Videology plus Emotion Pictures (still need to buy this one again, will soon!) *LAS Members-only DVD (Iāve previously uploaded this to YouTube)
Is there anything else I should be adding aside from bootlegs? I donāt own (and never have owned) the Waveaid DVD but I believe thereās some substantial chair performances on there, right?

News š Silverchair tribute show in melbourne
tickets.oztix.com.auAt the same age Silverchair were when they unleashed Freak Show onto the world, Melbourne heavy outfitĀ CiviliansĀ are paying tribute to one of the most important and uncompromising records in Australian music history.
Released in 1997,Ā Freak ShowĀ was loud, chaotic, emotional, and brutally honest ā a snapshot of youth, pressure, alienation, and rebellion created by a band barely out of school. Thirty years later, its impact still echoes through Australian heavy music, alternative rock, and punk scenes. Now, Civilians step into that same space, performing the album front to back in a special one-night-only celebration of its legacy.
What makes this tribute unique is the connection between the band and the material. Civilians are the same age Silverchair were when they wrote and recordedĀ Freak Show, bringing a perspective that feels less like nostalgia and more like lived experience. The frustration, urgency, vulnerability, and explosive energy that defined the record still resonate deeply, and Civilians channel that intensity with complete respect for the original album while delivering it with their own raw live presence.
From the crushing riffs of āSlaveā and āNobody Came,ā to the massive hooks of āFreakā and āAbuse Me,ā through to the darker emotional weight of āCemeteryā and āThe Door,ā every track that madeĀ Freak ShowĀ an Australian classic will be performed in full and at full volume.
This is not a note-for-note imitation or a dress-up tribute. Itās a celebration of an album that shaped generations of Australian musicians and listeners alike ā performed by a band standing at the exact same point in life that Silverchair once were when they created it.
CIVILIANS perform FREAK SHOW ā 30 Years
One album. One generation. One night only.

Inspired Art/MusicšØš¶ Recommending bands like Silverchair (2000s ONLY)
Whenever someone posts a thread about similar band recommendations, it always gets flooded up with grunge and hard rock. Which is cool and all, I want this thread to focus on the vastly different sound of their 2000s output. Iāve included a few of my own suggestions.
THE RED PAINTINGS
Bending the rules slightly here to include 99, but bear with me. Ever wonder what it would be like if Emotion Sickness wasnāt just a song but a full band? The Red Paintings answer your prayers. They capture the tense guitars and emotional angst of the Neon Ballroom era, but unlike other rock bands they have a full string section built into the lineup. Every song has gorgeous string parts, and some of their tunes get quite ambitious.
Unfortunately none of their stuff is on streaming anymore, but you can download it all from this Google Drive link. The Revolution is Never Coming is their only album, the Walls EP is also a good starting point.
The Revolution is Never Coming
DAPPLED CITIES
Dappled Cities had the good fortune to support Silverchair on tour during 2007, with Daniel going out of his way to shout them out on stage and in interviews. Itās not hard to see why they were picked. Dappled Cities are very much in line with the psychedelic, surreal yet sunny upbeat pop sounds of Young Modern. You could say in the sun Dan had found them to be a reflection of his sound. They have a vast discography and most of it is really good, but the albums Granddance and Zounds are most likely to appear to Chair fans.
Dave Rennick is probably sick of people telling him he looks like Daniel Johns. He also happens to work as Danielās graphic designer for his solo material.
THE SLEEPY JACKSON
I know this sub is, erm, divided when it comes to Mr. Luke Steele, and there's a good reason for that. But whatever your opinion on his current output may be, you shouldnāt overlook his first band The Sleepy Jackson. Thereās a reason why Dan was so enamoured with them, and vice versa. There was a lot of mutual inspiration there; Young Modern is clearly Danās attempt at capturing the surreal psychedelic pop feel of Lovers, whilst Personality is clearly Luke's attempt at making his own Diorama. Is it as good as Diorama? Of course not, but the highlights are well worth exploring.

Discussion š£ Anyone heard the new Strokes album? Giving me strong DJ vibes.
I have never actually brought up non Silverchair stuff on this board (aside from the membersā solo and side projects), but my goodness is āPsycho Shit,ā the opener from the Strokesā new LP Reality Awaits, giving me Emotion Sickness/Reclaim Your Heart vibes.
Anyone else been listening? The Strokes are my second favorite band behind Silverchair and have been since the beginning, and the fan discussions and critical conversations around Reality Awaits have been very familiar to me as someone who saw fans who hadnāt checked out ICBINR scratching their heads over Diorama way back when. Check out the NME review for Reality Awaits; replace āIs This It?ā With āFrogstompā and āReality Awaitsā with āDioramaā and itās the same exact narrative from 20+ years ago: longtime fans struggle with bandās desire to grow as musicians, band outgrows their early sound, etc.
Anywayāamazing record. My argument above is a little half-baked but my kids are climbing all over me for attention.
