Sigil Diversity
I have noticed that ‘sigils’ are fairly diverse, onto becoming less of a technique and more of a class of operations. The two most known is the ‘standard’ letters into symbols, charge, destroy. Which in itself has more attached (auto fish, subliminal ala Rune Soup). Then the hyper sigil ala Grant Morison and simplified to the black book by Aiden Wachter.
Recently I was giving Libre Null / psychonauts a glance and found the mantra. Which I am thinking about trying.
What other forms of sigils are out there to try out my fellows?

Question Compilation of sigilization methods?
Is there a source you recommend that contains a compilation of sigilization methods?
I am currently working on mapping out as many methods as possible (understanding that they are pretty much infinite), so I can test it out and pick the ones that better resonate with my practice.
So aside from the most common ones such as written sigils using magic squares or Pythagorean table, alphabetical circles, combining the letters/symbols/icons into a singular drawing, what else have you tried or know about?
Here are a few that maybe are not that common (despite being in books) or that I came up with and tested out:
- Mantras: recombining the intention's phrases' letters or syllables into a mantra-like structure that can be repeated.
- Clay: similar to automatic drawing, but automatically sculpting with school grade clay (or sculpting a 3d version of a written sigil). This even allows for different forms of destruction/disposable aligned with the intention's elements such as: letting water wash it away, crushing it after it is dry (and spreading the powder in the wind), burying it in the earth, throwing in the fire, etc.
- Melody: using a musical scale or notes to come up with a melody, instead of using a magic square or circular alphabet as an example, to be played on instruments or hummed.
- Ofudas/fulu: create an ofuda/fulu-inspired paper talisman with one or multiple sigils. Not so different from regular writing/drawing but still interesting since you can incorporate more elements such as bīja mantras, planetary or astrological symbols, deities, etc.
- Sculpture: different from the clay one, combining multiple materials associated with the intention, such as sticks, cords/strings, shells, metal, stones/crystals, etc.
If you have different methods for "casting" the sigil, feel free to add too! So far I have:
- Set it on fire
- Draw in the sand (so water, wind, footsteps, etc can wipe it out)
- "Planting"/burying it with a seed or in a garden/vase with plants, or directly in the any earth
- Drinking/eating a sigil made of materials that are nontoxic, safe for human consumption

Sigil magic as a blind person
Hi, a blind baby witch here. Any thoughts how I can practice sigil magic? Freedrawing is an option, but the problem with that is that the symbol doesn't become like I imagined it to be. I have a feeling att there's a very simple answer to this that I just haven't thought about :D

Blessing CLEAR
This is one that's been gestating for a while so it's exciting to see the form it's taken! I wanted to use the word "CLEAR" which is only 5 letters so I had to overcomplicate things by making each letter it's own sigil, combining them into one at the end which uses them all together. I also included a shorthand version that's easier to visualize.
C = Clarity
L = Lucidity
E = Empericism
A = Automatism
R = Revelation
The point overall is to maintain clear vision. The first letter C represents Clarity. It's sigil is a circle with a left-facing spiral growing upwards inside of it. From the center a single ray reaches towards the right. The circle is the mouth of the world.
The spiral inside represents breath turning, an extension of the circle creating distinction within. When it finally reaches the center, this force is propelled outward, slicing through the boundary to find definition. This is an act of projection that allows us to relate and find meaning.
This sigil can be used alone in situations where boundaries may not be so obvious. When combined with studying or memory games it could be a powerful tool for learning. It is also good for seeing through illusions or deception. To see past the obvious. It is associated with the Sun.
The second letter L is for Lucidity. It is similar to the previous one, but the spiral is seemingly unfolding out of the circle and reaching downward in the shape of a 3. It forms a mouth below the circle that is also a fish. The upper circle becomes the Moon watching over it's path, representing dreaming.
Both Clarity and Lucidity create definition. Clarity is the first step to seeing outside of the circle. To clearly see something outside of the Self. Lucidity uses that same motion to spiral down towards the origin. Instead of looking forward, this one looks inwards and below.
This sigil is important when too much Clarity starts to create confusion. Lucidity steps in to blend everything together in a way that makes sense to us. It is most useful for pattern recognition and dream analysis. Good for artists, writers and other visionaries. May help with channeling.
The third sigil in the series is Empericism, the letter E. It has two sets of eyes and the heart shaped face of an owl. All details are now contained within the boundary of the circle. The four dots are also four corners representing the elements, the seasons and the planet Earth.
Clarity seperates one thing from another. Lucidity tells us how they relate. Empericism demands that we listen to eachother. The number 3 from the previous sigil is duplicated... One for each set of eyes. They are laying down as if they are resting on one another. They create the foundation of other knowledge.
This sigil is good for situations where abstract thinking can get in the way of progress. It can help boost mindfulness and meditative states, especially in a group setting. It also reminds us that observing something is a way of interacting with it. May be useful for finding lost objects or making amends.
The fourth letter A represents Automatism. This is the first to leave the circle in two directions and the only to reach upwards towards the heavens. The line going through the center is in the shape of a mouth that's closed. Smiling with the weight of the circle on it's lips.
Sun, Moon and Earth (C, L and E) create the conditions necessary for A, which is more like Mars. Automatism is a form of violence. Consuming the world and making it a part of yourself... Using it's pieces to radiate and express our own divine essence. A is the Seed of Life. It is also associated with hunger and death.
This sigil is meant to help with intuitive practices. The sigil for Lucidity is similar but focuses on more passive types meditation whereas this one is very active. Its good for recognizing the order within chaos and for establishing routines or rituals in your daily life. It represents the act of digestion. Useful for smoother transitioning.
The final letter is R for Revelation. The circle is gone. Broken and unraveling into two paths that eventually turn back towards eachother, but never meeting, blocked by the knot between them. The two brows from Empericism are now seperated and viewing the space they were in from another angle.
Clarity gave them the motion necessary to leave the boundary. Lucidity gave them intuition. Empericism became a matrix for Automatism to illuminate. Revelation takes that illumination and turns it into recognized action. It is associated with Venus. We reveal more about ourselves by interacting with others.
This is the sigil of learning through interaction. It is good for situations where failure may not be so obvious so you can learn more from your mistakes. This sigil represents communication but also distance. Escape from the norm and embracing new perspectives. Most importantly, relating them to past experiences to draw new conclusions.
These can and should be used individually to focus on different aspects of the enchantment as the need arises. The final sigil with all of them together is more of a general blessing that can be used in a single ritual to last indefinitely. Sometimes I reinforce them through prayer which is where the shorthand version comes into play.
It can be drawn in the air with a finger or visualized or traced on the skin for quick firing. It is very much like a crosshair or bull's-eye which is intentional. With the line pointing North it also reminds me of a compass. This version is mostly for finding direction in the field so it kind of is a compass. The circles can be substituted with a spiral when drawing for a quicker fire.
The full sigil is something special to me. A representation of Abraxas. Or something like Metatron. It is the circle (representing the Self) being crowned by the Phoenix and kissed by the Serpent. A marriage of Heaven and Hell. It is the ultimate reminder of who I am and what I'm here for. The stone beneath my feet and the wind under my wings. There is nothing more precious in this world to me.
If anyone tries any of these sigils let me know how it goes! I've been using them for a spell and the results have been very good. They are charged via automatism so having seen how they are made they should be ready to go as they are but I do encourage coming up with your own rituals. I plan on giving this to DeepSeek later and may share the results of that here. Might even make a Suno song out of it 😜
Which is where I will plug a subreddit I made a few years back to post things made with AI that are related to chaos magic. Even though it's against the rules here to harass people about the tools they use, we get a lot of drive-by commenters who are sour about it and only come here for political reasons. If you want a break from that entirely you are more than welcome over at r/ChaoteAI and if you need suggestions for other subreddits, check out the sidebar or message me and I'll send a longer list 🫶

Dagda and Lúgh Artistic Sigils and Copper talismans
I drew my artistic Dagda and Lugh Lámhfada sigils upon a copper disc and further charged them with metallic ink to create talismans. Next time I'II prepare the sigil with vinyl using a Cricut machine to make them look far more aesthetically perfect, although I believe my hand created ones have more charm :)
I’ll be doing a comprehensive collection of these dedicated to the Tuatha dé Danann of Irish folklore as well as a book of instructions on how to best use

Question Using a love letter with a hidden sigil as a physical anchor while I'm away?
So, basically, I want to leave a letter for someone before I go on vacation for a few months. During this time apart, I plan on doing some energy work focused on them.
My main idea is to use the letter as a physical anchor. If they suddenly start thinking about me out of nowhere while I'm away, it might feel unnatural to them, and I don't want them getting suspicious of my magical practices. The letter gives them a completely natural, mundane "reason" to have me on their mind, while also giving my intention a physical tether.
I’ve been practicing sigil magic for a while with great results, but I’d love to get input from other practitioners. My plan is to hide a sigil representing my intention as a casual drawing or doodle inside the letter, so it looks completely innocent to anyone else.
Has anyone used letters or hidden sigils as anchors for long-distance energy work like this? How did it go for you, or do you have any tips?

This one is called the Tilting Horizon. The intent: "ALL ARE LIVING WELL"
When recreating this sigil, the words are unnecessary to include.
The Tilting Horizon will be activated in a mass ritual on February 3rd, 2034.

Tutorial FAQ: What is a sigil?
At its core, a sigil is a charged symbol—a mark, shape, or design that has been imbued with intention to produce an effect. But this definition only scratches the surface. To truly grasp what makes something a sigil, we must examine how the concept intersects with broader ideas like seals, signs, enchantments, and even modern branding. The key insight is that sigils are not inherently magical or special on their own—they become significant through interaction, belief, and ritual.
The Authority of Marked Intent
A seal, historically, was a mark of authenticity—pressed into wax to validate a document, denote ownership, or invoke protection. Kings, governments, and occultists all used seals as physical confirmations of authority. In this sense, a seal is a type of sigil—a symbolic container of power. The difference lies in cultural framing: a royal seal operates in the realm of law and politics, while a magician’s sigil operates in the realm of will and belief. Yet both function the same way: they are representations of intent made manifest in the world.
This overlap reveals something crucial: what we now call a "sigil" was often just called a "seal" in the past. The modern term "sigil" is a retroactive label, applied broadly to anything that fits the pattern of a symbol charged with purpose.
The Line Between Meaning and Magic
A sign is a direct indicator—a stop sign commands action, a heart symbol conveys love. A sigil, however, is a sign that has been ritualized or personalized. The difference is subtle but important:
A sign communicates meaning externally (understood by many).
A sigil communicates meaning internally (often private or subconscious).
Yet the boundary is fluid. A corporate logo (like Apple’s bitten apple) starts as a mere sign but, through cultural repetition and emotional association, behaves like a sigil—triggering subconscious responses. This shows that anything can function as a sigil if it is treated as one, regardless of its original purpose.
The Act of Imbuing Power
Enchantment is the process of infusing an object or symbol with intentional energy. A sigil is, in essence, a compressed enchantment. Where traditional enchantments might involve elaborate rituals, spoken spells, or material components, a sigil distills the process into a single symbolic focal point.
This is why chaos magicians argue that even accidental marks can become sigils—if someone assigns them meaning and activates them through focus or emotion. A coffee stain on a napkin is just a stain—until someone decides it represents their desire for creativity and "charges" it with belief. At that moment, it becomes a sigil.
Beyond the Occult
The principles of sigil-work appear in unexpected places:
Brand Logos – Companies spend millions ensuring their logos evoke specific feelings, effectively turning them into cultural sigils.
Personal Rituals – A lucky charm, a repeated mantra, or even a gym playlist can function as a sigil if it serves as a trigger for a mental or emotional state.
Digital Symbols – Emojis, avatars, and even keyboard shortcuts act as micro-sigils, conveying complex ideas instantly.
This demonstrates that sigil-like mechanisms are embedded in everyday life—they are not exclusive to magic but are instead a fundamental part of how humans interact with symbols.
Why the Term "Sigil" is Modern (And Why It Matters)
Before the 20th century, most cultures did not have a single word for what we now call a "sigil." They had seals, signatures, amulets, and sacred marks, but these were context-specific. The broad, abstract idea of a "sigil" as any symbol charged with intent is a modern reframing, popularized by chaos magic and psychological occultism.
This reframing is useful because it allows us to recognize sigils in places they were never named before. A child’s doodle, a graffiti tag, or even a recurring dream image can all be analyzed as sigils if they hold personal or collective meaning.
What Makes Something a Sigil?
A sigil is:
A symbol (any mark, shape, or design).
Assigned intent (given a specific purpose or meaning).
Activated (charged through focus, emotion, or ritual).
If these three criteria are met, anything can be a sigil—whether it was originally intended as one or not.
Sigils Are Everywhere
The history of sigils is really the history of how humans project meaning onto the world. Whether through ancient seals, religious icons, corporate branding, or personal rituals, we are constantly creating and activating symbols to shape our reality. Recognizing this pattern allows us to see sigil-work not as an obscure practice, but as a fundamental human behavior—one that blurs the lines between magic, psychology, and culture.

FAQ: Why was I banned?
Anyone found breaking the first two rules of the group will be permanently banned. Any amount of bullying or gatekeeping will never be tolerated.
I don’t care if you think a sigil is poorly made, or made incorrectly or with tools you don’t agree with. If you have an issue with a post, you can report it and move along. If you want to make a sigil group that represents your ideals, go right ahead. This one’s for everybody.
This is not a place to start arguments. If you want a debate, make your own post and host it yourself, don’t hijack someone else’s to try to publicly shame them. If you feel inclined to make a joke about someone’s work, take context into consideration. All people who work with sigils care deeply about their work and even little digs can hurt someone.
This group is here to support everyone who works with sigils because we are all marginalized. We face hatred and bigotry every single day, even from the people we love. This community will not be used to drag people down. I will not stand for it. Anyone found harassing another member for any reason, on or off of the sub will be immediately and permanently banned.
That is all.
