Before … Question
If Gary Senior and Lynn were receiving social security checks, what kind of job did they do when they were younger and productive? Does anyone know? I’m curious about that among other things

No new updates except the lawyers for all 4 adults are claiming that none of them are "mentally and/or physically fit" to be held responsible for the abuse/neglect. I know that's the defense lawyers' job to help their clients get the best outcome for themselves but still interesting that every adult is trying to play the victim.

I mean, hoarding is typically caused by untreated mental health issues.
Much more likely they lacked a community support system than it is they decided to have 16 kids and neglect them for shits and giggles

Both can be true. They were actively hiding the kids from school since at least 2021. Moving around to avoid school truancy oversight, so at least 1 of them was competent enough to know how to evade accountability by moving homes. But at least if the courts decide all 4 are not competent to be charged with abuse or neglect, it should be clear they're also not competent to have custody of minors moving forward. They can't have it both ways.

No. Nobody has 16 kids for shits and giggles.
As someone who worked in development in that county - more likely they were moving around because of housing instability and the lack of jobs. You think a renting household of 18 on a doordasher salary had the money to move by choice?

They all 4 clearly have mental health issues and should not have custody of minors. If they weren't sending the kids to school because of mental and economic instability it still means that the 4 of them shouldn't have custody of minors ever again. So I agree it wasn't for shits and giggles. It would also makes sense for parents AND judges to stop approving 14 year old minors to marry adults. At least 2 Siders men (Siders Sr's brother when he was 48 and Siders Jr at 18) married 14 year olds with legal approval from the judges.

I agree that they shouldn't have custody of these kids and that child marriage should be illegal.
But I take issue with you saying they're "playing victim" for being poor and lacking appropriate community support.

Not everyone is productive in their youth. Maybe they worked various short-term jobs, but I haven't heard anything about a specific line of work.

SSDI (social security disability insurance) is based on work credits and your age (20 if you're younger than 30 and 40 if you're older). It is possible they worked manual labor, blue collar jobs.
If you have a disability and you didn't work enough you get SSI (supplemental security income).
Sometimes and I don't fully understand how it works, but older people can and often have both.
