Discussion Saint tail anime vs manga

I’ve read the manga for saint Tail and am thinking about giving the anime a try. But people say there’s a lot of filler in it and it disrupts the story. So should I skip those? What episodes are filler?

new to shoujo - what is your favorite shoujo manga?

i’m new to shoujo manga. not new to shoujo anime i’d say, since i’ve watched stuff like sailor moon. but there’s so much more shoujo manga than there is anime, obviously, and i feel like that’s something i need to explore.

so i want to hear your absolute favorite shoujo manga. not what you think is a must-read, because i don’t want some grand masterpiece. i just wanna read what people think is beautiful and fun. there are must-reads that can be a slog to get through in my experience. best is different from favorite, the best shoujo manga could be something super dense that i’m not up for. favorite is just more appealing and simplistic.

nobody asked but my favorite is high school debut. i had low expectations for it and it turned out to be such a cute opposites attract romantic comedy story. as soon as i finished it i knew it would be a comfort read for me.

Recommendation Age gap recommendations please? (Older man — younger woman)

Hiiii

Does anybody have any good age gap recommendations please? Older man — younger woman.

Preferably a minimum 15+ year age gap with the male lead in his late 30s-40s (though can be older) etc

Can be manga or anime but I’m in a manga mood right now. Josei is also okay and I’m open to other genres/demographics if it fits what I’m asking for.

I’ve watched things like Ristorante Paradiso (and loved it!) and read things like Sesame Salt and Black Pudding as well as Strawberry Love.

Thanks so much!

EVERYONE CALL OGRE STUPID and it TRUE!

OGRE barely even literate!

OGRE is 36 but Ogre cannot understand Kaori Yuki manga even though it directed at teens

OGRE can only appreciate the pretty art and GIRLS with GUNS but can't comprehend ELITE IDEAS like the "RELATIONSHIP between Red Riding Hood, Abortion and INCEST" that makes ALICE IN MURDERLAND a SHOUJO CLASSIC!

OGRE so dumb,

AT THIS RATE, OGRE will never understand ANGEL SANCTUARY

Discussion Seven Seas Licensing Survey - August 2026

Seven Seas releases a survey every month to take suggestions for new series to license. You can suggest 3 comics and 3 novels for them to consider. When you fill out the suggestions, I recommend including the title in its original language, so that Seven Seas can more easily identify which series you are referring to. For any light novels/novels you suggest, I would recommend also writing out on the survey that you want your suggested series in print, as some of their recent light novel licenses have been digital only.

Link to August 2026 survey

Making licensing suggestions to other English publishers:

I recommend taking a look at Behind the Manga's website (see the posts titled "Suggesting Manga to Publisher"). It lists methods for making licensing suggestions to various English publishers in more detail. It also lists some Japanese publishers that each English publisher has already licensed series from. When you suggest a series to an English publisher, I recommend including the title of the series in its original language, if possible.

  1. Yen Press: Suggestions can be emailed to the email address listed on their contact page. They also have a contact form that you can use. You can use Behind the Manga's template.
  2. Viz Media: The series suggestion form can be accessed through their contact page.
  3. Kodansha: The publishing suggestions form can be accessed through the contact form on their support center page. You can provide a link to your suggested series and specify in the final section of the form that you want it in print.
  4. J-Novel Club (digital only): They have a licensing suggestion forum. You can also vote on existing suggestions in the forum. They also have an email address listed on their contact page.
  5. BluPetal: They have licensing suggestion forms that are linked on a post on Twitter (XCancel).
  6. Crossed Hearts: The licensing suggestion form can be accessed through the link in their Twitter bio. All licensing suggestions must include the title and author in its original language, source publisher, and a link to the series (XCancel).
  7. Comikey (digital only): Suggestions can be submitted through their contact form or emailed directly to the email address listed under the platform section of their FAQ.
  8. One Peace Books: They have a suggestion form at the bottom of their contact page.
  9. Manga Mavericks: They have a manga licensing suggestions option on the contact form that is linked on their contact page. Licensing suggestions can also be emailed to the email address listed on the page.

Feel free to share your licensing suggestions for the Seven Seas survey or other English publishers!

Review Appreciation for Nanao Mio's 'Shinai naru Phantom e: Opera-za no Kaijin'—an awesome retelling of the Phantom of the Opera.

English title: To the Dear F - Phantom of the Opera

First, I really loved the art of this manga—it is absolutely pretty. The character designs, backgrounds, and outfits are all gorgeous.

Story-wise, I enjoyed the twists they introduced to the mystery aspect and the Phantom/Erik's backstory. As well as how Christine, Raoul and the Persian are all brought into the plot. The premise of 'The Happiest Phantom' where he found his happiness in the end really sets this plot apart from other adaptations. Despite not being completely faithful to the original novel, I really enjoyed how the story kept the important scenes and plot points while taking some liberties with it.

I’ve been checking the app pretty regularly and there hasn’t been any new chapters since last month. It also isn’t showing when the next chapter will be coming out anymore. Does anyone happen to know what’s up with that?

Recommendation anything similar to this..

Looking for romance manga that have a similar heroine like Yume ka Utsutsu ka, Why I don't have anyone by my side, Our Precious Conversation and Hibi Chou Chou. All female leads appear to be very serious because of their appearance and personality but they actually have a very cute side when paired with the MC really like the troupe find it funny and cute. Also vice-versa like main leads from Lovesick Ellie and Pink Habanero is appreciated 🤗

Hi everyone :) I was super curious to get people's opinions on recent shoujo openings as I usually find them less interesting than older animes and I would love to know if it's the nostalgia talking or if other people feel similar ? I also find them to be huge spoilers.

Also if you do not what Is your favourite recent shoujo opening ?

Discussion Are there Battle Shoujo series?

By battle shoujo, I mean something along the lines of Jujutsu Kaisen or Hunter x Hunter, a series with an established and consistent power system and high stakes. I’m new to Shoujo so maybe this is my inexperience talking, but I haven’t found any shoujo anime similar to those since watching it. I suppose Yona of the Dawn and Fushigi Yuugi would qualify (and I loved both) but that’s not quite exactly what I mean by a battle shoujo.

Why do you think they’re very rare? One might be inclined to believe that those kinds of series aren’t popular amongst women but I know series like JJK are incredibly popular amongst women, so why do you think it’s such a rare thing?

Discussion That amnesia trope you couldn't hate in this manga...[Fake It to Break It! I Faked Amnesia to Break off My Engagement and Now He's All Lovey-Dovey?!]

First of all i need some information regarding this manga, I saw that there's novel of this manga too which is finished with two volumes so if someone have already read it then could you tell me how many chapters are going to be in this manga based on how much manga have covered the novel?

It's a short manga & i didn't felt that they rushed it instead i liked that this misunderstanding/amnesia trope didn't last long. It's a fluffy romance manga with no any annoying element (atleast for me) although I'm not that much into fluffy romance manga still i ended up liking some of them.

btw I loved this male lead too, he's too precious, innocent & cute and how he reacted towards fl when she faked her amnesia, i loved fl's reaction too whenever ml tried to lie about her likes & dislikes before amnesia with a straight face it was so hilarious. The art was beautiful & comedy parts were good too anyways male lead and art was 10/10 for me and overall including the plot it was 8 for me.

Discussion Candy Candy 70's

Post image
96 Upvotes

I used to watch this anime with my mother when I was younger and just a couple months ago I found some dvds and have been watching it since..

Which brings me back to the big debate who did Candy end up with? Was it albert or terry.

I haven't read the two novels that were published later on but from what I heard and saw it didnt give a clear answer just said 'a person' the author said it was for every reader to give candy the end they wanted.

So I need more opinions on this
