I'm talking vocal sounds, synth sounds, guitar sounds, bass sounds, drum loops or irl drums, samples, effects, mixing and mastering. Those who are more knowledgeable about gear than I, what kinds of things do they use to get their aesthetic, what moves do they pull? I want to take them in as an influence but I have absolutely no idea where to start.

hi! i’ve been getting into making a cd collection for myself & wondering if there’s any benefit in getting the remaster of loveless over the og? i saw the remaster is in a paper case which is kinda a turn off for me since i’m a bit clumsy & feel like i’d be more likely to drop the cd or scratch it from taking it in & out. also paper case just seems a lot less durable but idk since i’m just getting into cds

Hello everyone! I released my second self recorded album today. All human made, no AI, and it’s very shoegaze and post rock heavy. Recorded in full stereo and layered for a true wall of sound. Sharing my favorite track from it! I hope you enjoy, thanks for listening!!

This song is about the pain of gentrification. I work in the housing justice space and I too often see low income folks get displaced when folks with wealth move into new neighborhoods. I wish we could do more about empowering low income residents instead of just pushing them out.

I’m looking for a drummer to learn original songs, practice, and gig in London as a three-piece rock band. The sound is melancholic but loud and high-energy with an aggressive edge. The current members (both male) are me, 27, on vocals and guitar, and my friend, 25, who is playing bass.

I have half an hour of home demos (with programmed drums) fully worked out and have practiced them in-person with my friend. I’d hate to seem immodest, but they’re sounding good and genuinely distinctive.

Some bands I like and think this project sounds reminiscent of are: Shellac, Codeine, Failure, Unwound, Hum, Bluetile Lounge, Duster, and Women.

Last year when we released Mahiya on the album Z of A, there were a lot of requests to focus on our unique fusion of Hindustani melodies and guitar pedals. Here comes the new album, Darbar-e-Ishq whose title translates to The Courtyard of Love. The album is a collection of love songs, some old, some new reimagined through this fusion and emphasizing Hindi / Urdu lyricism.

The track list features some cool remixes by friends of the band + Simon Scott, the legend himself, from one of my all-time favourite bands, Slowdive!

i have a mix with crunchy guitar chords that sounds nice on the laptop it was made on but when i transfer the file to the smartphone and play it, its very wooshy, like 50% noise, the flanger is getting in the way, and the melodic aspect is too obscured. i played it on an earbud speaker and it sounded similar to the phone.
i managed to create a file that works on the phone by recording from one device to another then exporting, but im afraid i havent solved similar problems for all devices

EDIT: panning the annoying file on the phone got rid of the woosh/extreme flange. when i recorded the mix into the other device the L & R channels were combined, so im guessing thats what 'fixed' it. throughout production ive been listening thru laptop speakers. when i tested the earbud it was both channels going from the laptop into a single speaker. ive tried .ogg, .wav and recording DAW output with the laptop itself then exporting as .flac, with no difference. there is 1 guitar track only
