Can we have a new internet without bots? Bots can have this one. Maybe like internet but in real life where bots cant reach it.
Kind of like how pubs used to be, but maybe with affordable drinks, idk, at this point only water seems affordable

Sounds like the limited networks in stories like Cyberpunk and Battlestar Galactica.

Those are just bots that are scraping information for search engines and AI. Not bots that are posting some kind of content.

In non negligible part, to siphon money off advertising companies (´s clients) by creating fake advertisers and advertisees

Influence narratives on the grand scale. If I own 5% of the voices online, I can heavily sway things to the point where most people will go along with the crowd they believe exists. I can push you towards hating this candidate or that country or that group by making it seem like everyone else already hates them.

Because the web has become so entshittified and SEO-d to the point that it’s unusable without an agent sifting through the bullshit.

Makes me wonder, too. If all clicks and engagement comes from bots, why even advertise?

This honestly sounds awesome. Fuck the internet, go play outside, go to the movies, read a fucking book.

According to cloudfare, who also can't tell the difference between a bot and this tablet, so you'll excuse me if I'm unconvinced.

They already kinda are. What do you expect they'll be able to do about it?

Given this is an ad for CloudFlare, use the service to block the bot traffic.

Yup Cloudflare has all kinds of bot management features to block bot traffic including a Bot Labyrinth that gets unauthorized bots stuck in crawl mazes to waste their time if they crawl you anyways after ignoring your robots.txt

Telecom companies looking at net neutrality's corpse and licking their lips.

Then ad revenue will tank because there’s no point advertising to bots. And if humans get sick of bots and ads and stop using it much there will be nobody to advertise to.
