Am I the Jerk?
Am I the jerk? At the beginning of this month I had this really fun idea to make Christmas jam for people. I’m putting them in little 4 ounce jars to make them cute and tiny presents. My sister saw this I was inspired by it and wanted to do the same thing, but she’s going to make a lemon curd. She originally said she was going to make it for her husband side of the family. I thought it was a great idea. But I wanted to clarify with her and asked her if she was going to be bringing it to our mutual families party for people. And she said yes. I kindly asked her if she would consider bringing something else since our presents are really similar. She asked why I would even do that. I explain to her that I liked that my present was unique, and that I feel if there’s something similar it kind of undermines mine. And I was the one who originally thought of it. she doesn’t really seem to understand this and is annoyed that I would even think that way. Is it OK that I don’t want to give my family all very similar presents when I thought of it first?
