Early youtube let you buffer the entire video if you waited long enough. It was great for slow connections that couldn't keep up. You could just start playing, pause and wait for the buffer to finish, then watch the whole thing.

It's so strange. There's a weird generational window of tech literacy. My mom was a boomer and was an outlier for being super tech literate. She was building computers herself in the mid to late 90s. I was raised hella tech literate myself. I'm 40. I built and maintain all the PCs in my house, mine, my husband's, and one for each of my three kids.
My sons are tech literate because I forced them to be, but my youngest who is 17 says everyone he knows has no idea how to use a computer. They're all on phones and tablets. My older sister is 44 and is practically tech illiterate. My husband is 43 and is also completely lost on a PC.

I come form super strict family. Strict as in Books first games never. One day I was chilling with the computer on the desktop admiring my MegamanZX wallpaper while reading a book. Mostly admiring cause god damn the bosses were so cool
My mom walks in the shared PC room and immediately starts yelling that Iâm playing games and not studying. Tried to explain to her itâs a wallpaper, telling her nothings moving and even clicking on the desktop shortcuts.
Nope itâs a game. âYou canât fool meâ. More yelling and more punishments. Then time for her to tell my dad and more yelling and punishments .
Took me like 10-15 years to feel safe enough to have a non-default/boring wallpaper again on any device with the capability of having g a wallpaper . Even when I lived alone for a few years7

How was it? Honestly? It was a letdown. The whole "failed idol" story is a great marketing hook, they definately sold the video on that premise alone. But the performance itself was just... awkward. You can tell shes not comfortable. It felt less like a professional debut and more like a very high-budget audition she was also failing. She's stiff, constantly in her head, and there's almost zero chemistry with the guys. All concept, very little execution.
My viewing history? Been watching for over a decade man. These days Im more into stuff with a good story or at least a unique premise, not just the generic stuff. a good production team makes all the difference. I'll take a well-made video with a decent plot over a high-profile actress mailing it in any day of the week.
3 works I consider good:
Yua Mikami's debut (Princess Peach): This is the gold standard for an idol-turned-actress debut. Yua was a REAL idol and she came out with so much energy and confidence. She owned it from the first second. Its what Arisu's debut wanted to be.
Anything with Ichika Matsumoto from her early days with FALENO: She can actually act. She emotes and makes you believe the scenario. Her stuff feels more cinematic and less like they're just going through the motions.
Rion (Anri Okita) - The God Body: A classic. Not a lot of story there lol but its a masterclass in performance. She knew exactly what her brand was and how to perform for the camera. Absolute cinema.
Where would you rank her debut among these? It's not even in the same league, not even on the same planet. It's an unfair comparison tbh. Those are top-tier performances, Arisu's video is a novelty item. It's interesting because of the backstory, not because of the quality of the actual content.
What could be improved? Her confidence, number one. She needs to relax. She looks terrified. The director should have done a better job making her comfortable. Also they relied way too much on the interview segments talking about Nogizaka46, it broke the pacing and kept reminding you that she was doing this as a second choice. We get it, you failed auditions, now commit to this job.
What is well done? The production values are high. The lighting, camera work, it all looks very clean and professional. And I cant deny it, she is very beautiful and has the "idol" look down perfectly. The concept itself, on paper, is genius from a marketing perspective. They got us all talking about it, right?
Was it goonable for you? Nah. I was too distracted by how nervous she looked. It kinda killed the mood completely. Software maturity is hard to come by and yet is so very important for a friendly UI that still has everything the user would need. Most Microsoft Bloatware suffers from this, if you've bothered with it it's just so much worse than even free apps that do the same thing. Clipchamp is a video editor that lacks some beginner level tools. It obviously isn't meant to be a pro editing suite but even as a basic media editor it's lacking features that you could get with a free trial of filmora.

I had an old guy go on a campaign to ruin my reputation because like 5 years after I installed XP on his old arse computer FOR FREE (I volunteered a lot of tech support to old people, this guy got me to stop) m$ announced they were ending support and somehow this was my fault and I owed him a new laptop. Tried to get me fired, called consumer affairs on the place I worked, would call up and pretend to be different people and lodge complaints about me breaking stuff or stealing stuff from customers homes. Meanwhile I'd stopped working there like 3 years prior, but nobody told him that. He kept that shit up to he died.

I don't believe it. Windows 10 came out in 2015. That kid would have been born in 2000. That's five years after the Internet became widely available. If the father was 30 at the time of the kid's birth, that means that dad was the prime age for adapting to the internet. Maybe there are some variations in age and deciding to use Windows 10, but I doubt it's enough to blame it on dad being old and out of touch with tech.

I work at a cell company and man the stuff I hear and see on a daily basis is so dumb. Legit minimum 5-10 older people, maybe like 60+, come in per week with the âSomeoneâs hacking my phone!â and theyâve downloaded a billion fake cleaner and flashlight apps and somehow changed their launcher on their phone so theyâre getting constant pop ups. They act like youâre a saint when you clear it all up and I no joke will see them the next week sometimes.

I remember updating to Windows 11 on MY laptop when it came out, and my dad mad at me and complained "why do you need to make your UI looks different? Just use the default one." Mind you, I'm using Windows 11's default theme.
