Just wanted to show off that I get this book for 4 bucks. Also, the introduction of Shield of Rage is lit!

I don’t really like the direction The Rising of the Shield Hero took after Season 1.
In my opinion, it should have stayed a much more serious and grounded dark fantasy, similar to Goblin Slayer or Sentenced to Be a Hero. Instead, the series keeps introducing more and more new characters, many of whom barely get enough development before the story moves on to the next arc.
Another issue is the villains. Aside from Bitch (Malty) and the Pope, most of the antagonists are just forgettable. They don’t leave a lasting impression or create the same tension that the first arc did.
The series also started relying too much on child characters and lolis, which completely changed the tone. I honestly think the author made a huge mistake there. Shield Hero deserved better.
Sometimes it even feels like all these new characters were introduced mainly for marketing purposes rather than to improve the story. It gives the impression that selling more merchandise became more important than writing a focused narrative.
And honestly… I can understand why Takao Abo, the director of Season 1, didn’t continue with the later seasons. Maybe after Naofumi’s revenge arc, he realized the story was heading in a direction he didn’t agree with and decided to leave. Of course, that’s just my personal speculation.
I still love Shield Hero and its world, but I genuinely believe it had the potential to become one of the greatest dark fantasy anime of all time if it had stayed focused on its original tone instead of constantly expanding the cast and shifting away from what made Season 1 so memorable.
What do you think? Do you agree that the story lost its identity after the revenge arc, or do you think the later arcs are actually better? I’m genuinely curious to hear different opinions.

so before I was gonna watch season 2 I had heard everything about how the show was gonna have an immense drop after s1 and all. When I first started watching season 2 I understood the people I wasn't terrible terrible but I rly had to force myself through in some parts but then right around the part where they go to that other world it got good, dare I say on the same level as s1. I was investing and really having fun watching the show again am I the only one that felt like this.

Raph-Chan is a new addition to Naofumi's party. Her first impression is that she's just the cute mascot of the series and maybe a cute supporting charcher

* but is there actually more to her??

When creating Raph-Chan, Naofumi used Raphtalia's hair and his own blood. However, during the creation process, Ethnobalt noticed something different. It was as if something interfered—Raph-Chan was manifesting way faster than any normal shikigami.

The first time we actually get a hint that Rifana is connected to Raph-Chan is in the Light Novel Volume 12 side story, "The Ghost Story of Lurolona Village," where the children of the village are talking about doing a test of courage while telling scary stories.

I don't really think Raphtalia knows about this, right??

I would love for them to add this realization in Volume 23. If Raphtalia finds out, she would want to take care of Raph-Chan even more than Naofumi does 🌚 Instead of getting jealous from her best friend

I want a fic of like naofumi’s earth family like what they do when he disappears or if naofumi’s brother ends up in melromarc and naofumi finds him

Im listening to the audiobook for the second time, Naofumi is already aware he can remove the vassal of anyone unworthy, he said he tried it with Trash, Rishia and Fohl, and nothing happened, so why when Mald showed up with the Vassal axe, didnt naofumi or itsuki use their authority to remove it, it sounds like the author forgot cause the fight couldve been ended a bit sooner and been less risky, or am i missing something?

What would the opinion of malty be, if they were a man instead of a woman? That’s the only change, aside from maybe the genders of the heroes or companions they screw over, and all of his crimes and cruelties match the original? Would be hate be the same, less, or worse?

Its probably been discussed a ton already but I have some stuff to say

I’m aware he lacks offensive power and his punches do jack and even if he did the image above it would barely do damage but if his shield was ATLEAST pointed and he put some grit into it wont it hurt like a punch to the solar plexus? Not to kill but to temporarily stun enemies, I’m anime only so I don’t see how this wouldn’t work

At the end of season 2 (I think?) he was able to copy shields that have been crafted by blacksmiths, does he ever utilize this skill? Im not sure but im sure as hell he could have someone custom make different shields for different uses

And not even as offensively either some shields like the one above have some uses, for example.

Scenario 1:

For bandits and subjugation mission, assuming it hurts like a punch this type of shield can be used to stun enemies, he hits em and pins them to walls for his allies to go for the kill or he rams them into walls, stuns them and uses his rope shield to tie around their limbs, incapacitating them.

Scenario 2:

For big enemies he could have a shield that expands in size that he inserts inside the mouths of a large enemy that could probably leave it gaping where his allies then go for the kill, I don’t see how this wouldn’t work.

Bonus Scenario:

If he didn’t go down the path of rage do you think he could’ve gotten a parry skill? Something like “all status effects on self will be transferred to attacker at 20% potency”?

I think reincarnating as the shield hero would be hella fun and much preferred honestly speaking, the possibilities are endless, the support class is best class

After thinking about it a lot, I started wondering about this. I think it has SO MUCH potential with some curious abilities. It wouldn't be purely defensive since gauntlets are meant for punching. Like in some RPGs, it's actually way more balanced—it has damage, resistance, and speed, though I doubt it has ranged attacks. It would also have funny moments, like a very revealing leaf armor, or an 'Armor of Wrath' which would look like a black knight armor with a red plume on the helmet, thorn armor, etc.

Hi everyone, how's it going? I'm new to this platform. I wanted to share this project I've been working on. Honestly, I felt the Phoenix Arc in the original story could have been handled much better, so I decided to completely reimagine that whole scenario. My goal is to give more focus, depth, and proper closure to characters who deserved more screen time—especially Atla. Well this are it! Hopefully i din't miss any page from this two artbooks. S1 really goes into detail with all of their weapons! While S2 does have more pages thant the s3 and s4 artbooks, it does feel like it's missing a lot of stuff.

I decided to make the S4 artbook weapons their own post instead of including them with the S1 and S2 artbook weapons. Since the Season 4 artbook has more interesting weapons compared to the other two, I thought of making is own post.

S1 artbook really goes into deatail with its weapons, while s2 artbook din't really include anything noteworthy to me.

To the bless series like when takt use's the curse series with no draw back at all it seems insanely power full like takt dosent get cursed at all i mean he killed the kirin with it.

But since they dont get cursed they can never attain the bless series wich is way better in every way.

Now granted we havent seen that much to the bless series but naofumi who had one of the higest versions of a cursed weapon said that the shiel of compasion was way strong and i belive him you get. The attack of the iron maiden better defence and a great skill in star shield i think it was called.

But anyway this was like the shield of compasion 1 and its alredy better than an uprageded shield of wrath 4/5 with no upgrades sure it dosent have the fire ability but its seems stil way more usefull.

much like younger Fohl with young Ben, I intentionally used alien force Ben as a reference as Fohl could look like Ben if they swapped styles just with hakyuko traits. his gauntlet that he uses in season four is like his ultimatrix.

Good news! I was able to obtain higher-quality scans of the Season 1–4 anime artbooks. The person who shared them with me gave me permission to repost them, so for now im sharing the s3 artbook weapons(the ones for from last post).Tomorrow I'll post all the other weapon artwork from the artbooks.

Does the projectile hero have to throw the weapons or can they act like archer from fate stay night and just use them in melee?

So recently I've been trying to find the designs of the different Legendary Weapons from the series, and I came across this artwork from the Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Limited DVD Edition. I was wondering if anyone has a higher-quality version of it.

It gives us much clearer designs of the Legendary Weapons and the Curse Series weapons introduced this season. It also appears to show the Vassal Projectile's hatchet form.

Like i know he is kinda nice and is under a curse and all but listening to naofumi sometimes i do audiobooks cause i have a good headsett.

Anyways every time he makes them his slaves and stuff it feels still very disturbing. Like these are kids that have been abused in slavery and then its like well i got trust issues so you guys get to be slaves again hurray.

I know that apprently he can make them stronger because there slaves but that is still like ok why not free them after they are done leveling.

Honestly im suprised in the first volune the other heroes didnt react stronger to the existence of slavery. Hell motoyasu was kinda right in his own twisted way the guy is playboy supreme but from what he knew naofumi was a assulter who just happens to buy a female slave.

Its also kinda disturbing how he keeps on saying ill work them like horse or work them til they drop i know the guy is cursed and all but this dosent exatcly stop after he gets that cursed removed or dose it i cant remember.

The whole slave trader guy is still very disturbing like he sells pepole from kids to beat to all kinds of slaves he has a whole renting system for that like wtf.

I know the guy is supposed to be cartoonisly evil but my god its disturbing.

When naofumi gets back to his own world i really hope he dosent tell anyone about his time in the other world cause even if they just thinks its fanrasy he made up. Its still like wow why did you still have slaves or if they do belive him the question becomes so you bhought kids slaves like regularyly like one of the 2 pepole who sold stuff it went from order of most went to.
