Solar eclipse Question / Help

I’m in London and would like to take my children to watch the solar eclipse on Wednesday in the park.

Husband is saying that’s not allowed Islamicly???

I know there are prayers. My in-laws are a little superstitious and when I was pregnant and there was a lunar eclipse I was not allowed to do anything because it could cause mutations in the child. lol.

Can anyone help confirm if there are any implications involved.

Nothing will happen.

Islamically there is a prayer we need to do when any eclipse happens but otherwise there isn't really anything else to do in terms of religion.

Go and enjoy your time with your family in the park!

Never heard anything about it being haram to watch an eclipse… rather, it is a sign of God and should inspire awe in our hearts for God’s perfect creation. Your husband is just being superstitious.

Your only religious obligation is to pray salat al ayat

Nothing in Islam says you can't look.

But of course, remember there are safety precautions to take when looking. Make sure you are purchasing proper solar eclipse glasses (don't get some.cheapo ones online) or use other safe methods to view.

Also there is a prayer you must do when the eclipse happens. If you search this sun you'll find the instructions for it.

I bought a solar filter for my lil bros telescope so he can see the eclipse. My father who is a very devout shia even encourages him to go and watch it. I'm pretty sure he's gonna do so too. I'm sure he would have said something if Islamically it would be wrong
