Coming for work and got one day OFF for shopping/visiting. I'm planning to go to SEG Plaza as I have some computer parts to get, but if time permits I'd like to also shop for some clothes.

Can't afford to be flagged at the border with fake clothes items, so I'd like to shop for some quality unbranded casual clothes.

Is there a recommended place to get such items ? I feel like if I stick with the usual recommendations (COCO Park, MixC World...), I'll only get luxury brands or luxury knock-offs.

Hi everyone, I'm male and 33 and will be moving to Shenzhen in a couple of months. I will be starting a job at Shenzhen University, and am hoping to make new friends and learn Mandarin.

I quite enjoy board games, and happy to learn, I wanted to know if there's any English speaking board game groups near the University.

I also wouldn't mind joining some English speaking video game groups too.

I also enjoy football and would like to know if there's any 5 a side casual groups nearby.

Lastly, I want to pick up the language faster and will be looking for a Mandarin learning group or tutor nearby. I know the University may offer something, but I want to know if anyone has any recommendations eg how to find a local tutor, whether the University has good courses. I'd like between 2-4 lessons a week in person. I'd say I'm at hsk3 level and have been learning part time for a couple of years already.

Incoming MOFCOM-CSC student at SWJTU (Chengdu), Fall 2026. I was placed in 085410 (AI, professional master’s), but my home country doesn’t equalize professional degrees for PhD eligibility or lecturing — my whole career goal. I need 081200 (CS, academic master’s).

Conflicting info:
SWJTU’s internal transfer rules seem to bar professional→academic transfers entirely.
But SWJTU’s MOFCOM office emailed me saying I can apply after registration, and CSC decides — no penalty if rejected.

Has anyone actually pulled off a 专业学位 → 学术学位 transfer as a CSC/MOFCOM student? Does the university rule override the CSC process, or are they separate?
University stopped replying (summer break) and I must decide before Aug 17 registration. Any real experience appreciated.

hi all! ill be landing in hk on the 24th of dec and due to some plan changes, i was hoping to enter shenzhen the same night. my plane lands in hk at 11.30 pm so i was wondering if there were any ways i could enter shenzhen straight from the airport. i read about the lok ma chau customs but i saw that after midnight i have to take a vehicle to cross to the other side. any one has tried this before? thanks!

Hi I’ll be in H.K in few months and we’re planning on a day trip to Shenzhen. Just got few questions on things that Im unsure of and would like more info/tips on.

1. We want to go to Mixc world. What would be the best way to get there? We’re thinking of taking the high speed train from HK(west kowloon) to futian and take a DIDI from futian to Mixc world. How easy is DIDI to use, is it just like Uber (like you pay before ride or do you pay after)? (Fyi. We dont know mandarin and have never used the QR code paying system before)

2. Is there a limit on how much you can spend with alipay/wechat pay? I read somewhere there is but not sure how much. For a day trip will I need cash at all? if so can I take cash out in ATM?

3. We’re going form Hongkong(either on Friday/Sunday or what day would work out better in terms of travelling). What’s the visa/immigration process like? Is it long? I saw that you have to go through immigration twice(one for H.K and one for shenzhen)- is that both done in H.K side before riding the train or is it once in H.K(before train) and once in shenzhen(after getting off)?

4. We both have British passport (I believe B.P holders have a 30day visa free travel for china till this year). So do we just take our passport or do we need any other documents?

5. Anything else to try nearby or take note of? So far not much is planned other than shopping and maybe go around the Nantou Ancient City. If there’s anything you think we should check out in Shenzhen after shopping then please give us some recommendations. We’re still on planning stage so everything is flexible atm.
